Will this cause boost creep?

Hi Guys i was wondering if these mods would give me boost creep. So far my car is completely stock besides a catback exhaust. If I get a hi-flow cat(saw a good deal on craigslist) would this make me have boost creep? Is this worth changing? I think the hi-flow cat was a bonez one are they good?

Shouldn't get boost creep and yes it is a trusted hi-flo, lots of info if you search before you hit new thread.

I thought getting rid of the stock cat with an aftermarket exhaust can cause boost creep.

OP do you have a down pipe? That would be more beneficial than a highflow cat.

Generally a DP, cat back, and high flow cat will not cause boost creep. However if you add an intercooler and an intake some people report experiencing boost creep and others dont. You will just have to monitor your boost gauge and see.

I've got boost creep on AEM Truboost controller, bonez high flow, RB duals, Greddy/Trust SMIC and an autoexe intake. I spike to 14psi...and I like it.

With an open intake, downpipe, high flow cat, and catback exhaust my car got boost creep and killed the motor.

I had the wastegate ported when I had the motor rebuilt and went back to a stock intake and have absolutely ZERO boost creep/spike now.

I have intake, DP, straight MP and catback and spike to around 12-13psi, it isn't a problem as long as you have an ECU that can handle it. I would suggest upgrading ECU to have a buffer zone and less to worry about. I didn't follow this but my boost was only at 7 lbs until I put the ECU in then I immediately went back to 10psi. I will be putting boost up some more soon but it will be a few months. I like having the power in small increments so you get the feel for it instead of wrecking.

Oh i don't have an intake or a downpipe. Would it be better to just save up and get one of those first instead? The hi-flo wouldn''t cause boost creep unless i have a downpipe and intake right?

Your next mod should be a downpipe. A high flow cat won't do anything for the performance of your car with a stock intake and precat.

Supernaut & limepro,

Are you spiking or creeping? Those two terms shouldn't be interchanged as the fixes are completely different.

^ Yes it is WAY more important. Dont worry about a high flow cat until you have an aftermarket ECU and understand this car alot more than you do. You need to read the stickies and definately search, read, and understand almost all of the threads here https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

The downpipe is absolutely the first performance mod you should get. If the high flow cat is something you know you want to do down the line, and this one is a great deal, buy it. The stock cat is a pretty high flowing cat already.

I still have my oem cat, and my car passes smog (CA). A high flow cat will make it easier to fail a smog test.

Remove the pills from the wastegate line and your boost creep will be lower. That's what I did and now I'm running 10 psi on the dot.
