I've had my FD up to 170+ across the Gandy bridge here in Tampa. At that speed you don't pay much attention to the speedo. A brief look down and it was right about 170. I also am running larger diameter tires than stock in the rear (285/35-18's) This should equate to a higher speed than registers on the speedo.

Next time I go out for a full run I plan on using the Power FC to peak hold my speed and rpm #'s. This way I do not have to look at them at warp speed. I already had to apply the binders at 155 when a car changed lanes far ahead while I was racing a Suzuki srad 750. It seemed like forever to get from 155 back down to 65. The car felt stable but everything was in slow motion. I was wooried the bike that was behind me was going to slam into my rear bumper. We were both shaking our heads after that. It made me think of what my friend told me one day. " If speed kills, do brakes give life" answer: YES THEY DO :-)

No offense, if you're talking light and powerful, the Z06 makes the S4 look like it's going backwards, far worse than even the E46 M3, and I've killed two of those in recent weeks with ease. I've only had one S4 "run" me, and I left him so fast it was pathetic.

At nearly 3,600 lbs., they're not exactly light, and with 250 horsepower, they're not exactly that powerful, either. 0-60 in 5.9?? Even a stock RX-7 is much quicker.

By the way, I think the S4 is an awesome car also. This is my next car. Not getting rid of the Fd but need a nice family wagon. The S4 Avant fits the bill. Yes it is only 250 stock but who here settles for stock. Just a couple of bolt ons and your at 310. You also have all wheel drive and the best body construction out there. I visited the Audi plant in Ingolstadt where they make the A4's and A3's. What a place. Lets not also forget that for the last 2 years in a row the S4's have dominated the speed world challenge series with championships both years against Nsx's, Vettes, and Porsches. Michael Galati's S4 has around 420 hp. 310 should be more than enough for the wife

225km/hr about 140mph I think? A long 5-10% uphill Island Highway near Courtenay. Scary ****, had irregular winds blowing and thought I was going to be airborn! Need some downforce for my Touring.

Damn I love this website. It's nice to know I have plenty of company when it comes to being a crazy MotherFocker. If I don't die going for 180, I'll let you know how it turns out.

When I was Bone Stock, I saw 146 mph.

Since then, I have rebuilt and added a few mods (see list below).

Guess it's time to take her out for a good spin....now that I've got 5k after the rebuild.

Guessing, I should be able to see 170 mph.

What do you think?

Not bad for an old man?

Anybody guess at what my top speed should be?

That's what I'm talking about...I like to hear about someone other than us 20 year olds getting crazy with their cars. My dad won't go over 100, my mom gets lightheaded if I go into boost.

Rock on old man

Most of us have parents when they were are age, not many cars had the aerodynamics to reach 150 and not many had boost, either

Me myself, I've seen 155mph or so racing a 993 Turbo S. He beat me, but he was nice enough to stay at 155 with me for a few seconds cruising

The fastest I took my FD was 160-165 mph. I did this run with a few of my friends that are on this board and it was also recorded on video.

it was turning alittle but the car was still accelerating although not very fast. I had to brake cause of a crossing further ahead though

My best was 160-165 I've done it twice. The first attempt I passed a cop.It was at night. He was sitting in the turn lane going left. I never saw him floow after me. He probably thought there was no way in hell he was going to catch me and just pretended he didn't sse me. Who knows???
BTW 165 wasn't that scarry to me my car just wouldn't go any faster. I'd go 200 mph If I could..

Actually I suppose the car may go faster. Really you just kind of run out of road to just sit on the throttle for 10 miles or so. Who knows. Any one up for a top speed challenge?

I topped out my FD3S, with only a Catback n Intake
@ 155ish mph. Wouldn't go no faster.. Flying down
Northbound 495 past route 50 in MD.

After the run on the way home. I notice my car
felt funny and shaky.. I pull into a gas station
and realized one of my Rear tires were FLAT.

Funny When idiots look at my Speedo and say..
" WOW your car does 180mph" haha Then I reply
No I top out about 200. haha
I guess i had a slow leak in my Dunlops errr I forget
the model. D40M2? i forget. I believe the Highspeed
run made my slow leak into a gaping HOLE..

SO Becareful. Make sure your Tires are in Good condition
before any TOPSPEED RUNS.. If you have plugs in them
I wouldn't advise doing topspeed blasts.. OH and Zrated Rubber would be advised..

Not unless you've got about 500 horsepower, you don't.

With P275/40-17s in the back, 500 horsepower will take an externally unaltered base/PEP model (0.29 coefficient of drag) to 201.10 mph. A Touring or R-model (0.31 cd) would top out at 198.97 mph. A 360 RWHP RX-7 (0.29 cd) tops out at about 193.5 mph with the same P275/40-17s.

Your gear limited top speed may be higher than 200 mph, but drag limited (wind resistance and other factors) top speed is always lower.
