What should gauges be reading
Ok I just ordered in a dual egt, two air fuel, oil temp, oil pres, water temp, water pres, trans temp,
and well outside of the air fuels I don't know what the perfect level for the others is. if anyone has any answers that would be awesome

i have an oil temp gauge, but i realised that i dont have a sensor the last owner removed it.
Yeah, water temps should be between 85degrees celcius and 105 depending on your driving. I find when im constantly driving i get around 85, but when the car is still in bumper to bumper traffic i start to get around 100degrees celcius. I was actually getting 75 degrees celcius yesterday when i when driving in the local mountains.
Oil pressure will vary from car to car. I seem to get around 20 when im in neutral. I dont think there is anything worry about with oil pressure unless you have either very low or very high.
A boost gauge would be useful too.

Save your money. Get a decent standalone ECU and a good tune. The more you spend on building the car right, the less you'll spend worrying about it.
A boost gauge is really all you need if the rest of the car is in order. A water temp gauge is good piece of mind, but money well spent elsewhere and it's just a conversation piece.
I too thought I needed every piece of monitoring doo-hickey I could throw cash at... especially when I first bought an FD. Once I realized that I was just monitoring the inevitable on a 14 year old car that sat rotting most of it's life, I had a good motor built and spent the $ on a tune. Besides - if you're watching gauges, who's watching the road?

I agree. I would buy a PFC and wideband and EGT sensors and log those using a Datalogit. And, arguably, with a good tune, you don't really need those either.
And I have never heard of transmission gauges, water pressure gauges, or dual AFR gauges on an FD (where would you install both oxygen sensors?).
The only gauge you really need is a boost gauge.

What viscosity oil do you use? When I used 10W30 I realized my oil pressure was a lot lower (probably because it is less thick) than when I went to 15-50. I had trouble getting the Manufacturers recommended 50 psi at 3000 rpm with the 10W30.

i do use 10w30...do you recomend a diff one?
For the FD, I'd say the only real thing you need to have are the Boost, Temp, and Oil guages, just in case the stock ones aren't up to the task. We all know the stock temp sensor is a load of BS, so that's a definite must.
Everything else is gravy...if you don't have a PFC or EM, then I would probably get a knock sensor at the very least, too.

not really true.. there has been talk about the turbo timer and how it acually isnt good to have one... keeps the car running and not moving so gets hot and other things too but to lazy to put more
+1 if you have a pfc you dont need much.. oil, boost, and wideband.. pfc tells temps so no point in having a water gauge (my thoughts)

i disagree....my oil pressure gauge works when it feels like it. the other day i went to get new tires, when they put it on the lift, they noticed that my oil drain plug ws 3/4 backed it self out and dripping oil, (meaning i was way low on oil) which means if my gauge was working properly, i would have seen a very low oil pressure. lucky me i was there....i would have needed new tires and a new engine. also the temp gauge reads -- in the middle from 150 up to like 225*F its much more comforting knowing you can look at a gauge and actually know what it is reading
And, while I agree with the temp gauge to an extent - if the car is built right you wouldn't need to monitor anything more than the road.
It's similar to the torque braces, and whatever else that gets braced on these cars... in proper spec, there's no real need.
I'm not trying to argue; merely trying to pass on the gobs of knowledge I gained owning these things.
And you DON'T need a turbo timer, unless little girlies think it's cool when you turn the car off and it keeps running.
lol well i have an apexi power fc and a boost gauge already thats why i am moving to the oil then the water the egts and o2 sensors cause i like to know exactly what everything is doing
