I didn't feel like reading the entire arguement, but I personally think the car is worth roughly 18k, that's what I would feel comfortable paying for this particular car. That said, if you can make it work, keep it.

In the FIRST post, the op says if he got back into a FD it would be a Chaste White. I took that to mean that he really wants a Chaste White FD. It took me THREE FD’s to finally get a CW and I’ll NEVER get rid of it.
Yellows are not for fellows and white is just RIGHT!

Personally I love CYMs, and believe it or not CW is my least favorite color from an ownership perspective. I have seen some that looked amazing, it's just not my thing is all

Considering what you have into the car I would not want to take less than 20k. I would agree that a nice forum car would probably be worth more than one that is otherwise unknown.
For some reason I can't shake the white either. I have always wanted one though I've never seen one in real life. Visually I think white takes away from the cars contours because it does not show reflection, but I'd take one over any other color.

No, not at all. White is not even my favorite color. I would only get a white FD only because it's a rare color. You can pretty much ask anyone that knows me, I love hard-to-find parts or items in general or LE stuff, hence the authentic Spirit R stuff, etc.

so unless there are less then 700 white Fd, is not harder to find....
plus i don't white Fd are much of a attention grabber

in that case you should really keep your cym then.... because you already said it on the first post that there is only 350 cym in USA, and correct me if I'm wrong, but i think i read somewhere before there is only like 700 worldwide!!!

I understand what you're saying. It's just everyone has their objectives and goals with anything they seek. Once you work for something and completed the goal. Onto the next. Some keep it "forever" (I said that before too) while some depart with it. I still like my CYM, don't get me wrong. Just if I did another project, it will be a white one. But I don't see a future FD or any car in general for a few years.

Sell it. Along with all the other reasons mentioned..... half the fun is building the car and from the looks of it there is little left you can do to it to make it better (as a street car).

I agree with what you have to say on this too. I plan on eventually getting another FD because I know putting parts on these cars have a very small chance on making a small return on investment so I plan on keeping my car even if it means mine sitting.

I felt the same way when I owned my VR (my second favorite color) and then once I sold it and seen how easy they are to replace, I decided to search out the illusive white elephant. IMO the white is just a little classier and more of an adult color. If I could find a 1994 BB w/Red seats and carpet, glass sunroof, manual transmission, low mileage, and Bose system I would add another one to the garage.
Once you have completed the build and enjoyed it for a little while it’s time to move to another project. The build is a big part of the enjoyment of owning a FD. Very few people get everything right on the first build. Putting it in storage becomes a headache.

It's a bit presumptuous to say I'm wrong. Values are flat now, are they suddenly going to increase dramatically? Do you believe your car will be worth $50k some day? It's fine to dream...I prefer to drive and not worry what the car will be worth "someday", or many miles it has.
Once you factor in inflation, and god only knows what will that be in a year ... I have absolute belief that in another decade or two, Gordon's car will be worth $50 k...
BTW
Gordon, are you going to be making it out to the Tuesday Night Meets this year at all? All of us have brewing project research and would like your opinions...
~Andrey
PS: I honestly think we may be witnessing the birth of "exotic and rare" imported, modified exotic car realm .... akin to classic Ferraris and such
Honda NSX also falls into this category .... and probably the Supra, and Skyline as well to some degrees.

Not sure what generated the bump just to talk about Gordons' car, but exceedingly few of these cars break $30k in value at auction (most of them are three rotors), and that isn't going to change. Values have been flat for years, or slightly decreasing. Again, it's fine to dream, I prefer to live in reality. Heck, you can't even get some of the interior parts to properly restore these cars anymore.
Also I don't get the fascination with white FDs. I hate white engine bays for one thing. There are way, way, way too may white cars on the road, it's the most common color by a significant margin - you really need a truly exotic car like a Lambo to stand out in white, and the paint better be flawless.
I think the FD looks awesome in a dark red, stock VR is just ok...

I agree on the value 50k dah-ha (never happen).
You don't get the fascination with white because you don't HAVE ONE! If you had, one you would understand. I've had a VR and loved it but there are TONS of them on the road. IMO black is the best color of all FD’s.

There are not "tons of FDs" on the road my friend - fewer every year
I never "got" white cars and never will (yes, I've owned a couple - daily beaters)....now, black, with a nice coat of Zaino - that I understand
