Exclamation What Im I boosting soooo MUCH??

Ok my car WAS tuned for 12psi and is not running really high boost.. ~15-17 psi...This didnt start happening until I upgraded my Greddy Smic to a Greddy FMIC...Could this intercooler upgrade be causing this drastic increase in boost? or is it because my Apexi AVCR Boost controller (I have it setting in the glove compartment w/some little stuff in there as well such as tire gauge, random plastic screws) was altered? Any help is appreciated...Thanks in advance

Make sure the AVCR is hooked up. The pressure change in the FMIC will cause a different boost level. Just adjust accordingly.

Why don't you give a COHERENT history of what's happened, so we can actually help you? Have you even bothered to read the AVC-R manual? I can't believe it's that complicated that you can't even lower the boost level...

OK to start things off...My car has been running perfectly before upgrading the FMIC. The car still runs as usual just under Wot that im experiencing high boost levels. After I upgraded the intercooler and took her out for a test drive I noticed that the boost gauge was holding boost @ ~15-17psi. I tested every gear and with the same results. Since these testings I havent attempted to go WOT fearing of blowing my motor.

I know that it is dumb for me to not know how to lower the boost level on my own car but you know I wasnt planning on changing any boost settings until my single turbo kit arrived. Please pardon me for the inexperience but if you would kindly teach/help me into doing so please do. Thanks.

If you disable your AVC-R it should lower your boost all the way down to wastegate spring pressure, which is 8psi.

As for not knowing how to dial it down, I can't help you directly. But if you googled AVC-R for a user manual, it shouldn't be THAT hard to find. You're trying to adjust it to have the solenoid valve spend more time closed, so that the boost level gets closer to wastegate pressure.

Also be sure that the lines connecting the boost controller and wastegate are not leaking, damaged, or disconnected. If there is a leak, there won't be any pressure to move the wastegate, and you essentially have no controller at all.

Just figure out which direction reduces boost and turn it all the way down. (Or most of the way down). Then slowly adjust it back up until it gets to 12psi again.

1kg/cm^2 = 14.2psi.

Did you or did you not have the AVC-R before the FMIC install. If so, who set it up and installed it?

See what I mean? You are asking us how to adjust the controller when you haven't even read the manual. And then you find a metric number and can't even look it up on google to convert.

When you take ZERO initiative to help yourself, it makes it hard for others to help.

That controller is about the most complicated and difficult to setup controller on the market. Why didn't you just get a Profec B? They're a lot cheaper and easier to setup.

In any case, just turn off the controller or turn the boost level way down until you figure out how to do basic settings with it.
