Very high idle

I WENT TO START MY 93 FD this morning, and the RPM went to 4000? So I shut it down.
ANY IDEAS?

Stuck throttle cable or big vacuum leak most likely. I've also had cruise control cables stick.

Check the throttle so that it's not stuck. Mine got a bit corroded from being stationary for a few months and would not return once opened. Hade to take it out and clean it up.

Sounds like you still have the AWS working, but that takes RPM's to 3000.

Sounds like vacuum leak check aws hose for cracks or carb cleaner and spray it where gaskets are to find leak idle will rise if it sucks any in needs to be running to do this though

Another thing to check, make sure the dashpot is set correctly. If not it can hold the throttle open way too far. Happened to me a while ago.

If you don't know what that is just search around

I had to replace the fiberboard gasket between the LIM and the rotor housing with the later stainless steel gasket, which cured our high idle problem.
