I don't think the common sense dig was necessary - no shame in clarifying now versus a post later on on how they lost their '99 spec wing on the highway
I have used 3M VHB and Betalink K1 for aero adhesives on a low profile spoiler for my E92 (K1) and taillight spoiler FD (VHB), but agree these adhesives have limited use
The VHB on my FD has seen speeds above 150mph, but is not functioning in the same way as my bolted to hatch GT wing or your '99 spec or any non-low profile wing would be
Adding to the consensus, there is no getting around drilling holes for a '99-spec or similar wing
Even if a template for the '99 spec wing existed, your best option is to measure your exact wing to your hatch, marking bolt holes, triple checking, drilling as small a tap as necessary, then installing
I have a spare brilliant black hatch with glass in Massachusetts if anyone needs it - pick up only
Better safe than sorry on bolting it in and being as precise on install
There a are few ways you can approach marking the holes for drilling. What I did on both the FD and RX-8 was to create a template for my specific wing by placing pieces of paper across the hatch then tracing the outline of the mounts.
then cut out the outline, flipped it over and made the marks for the holes on the paper.
Then removed the new template and got in the right position on the hatch and marked the holes to drill.
Then spent a ‘lot’ of time double and triple checking with 2 people to make sure the holes were right. I drilled the outer 4 holes first and checked the alignment and went from there.
The holes need to accommodate a bit of movement for final placement so don’t make them too small.
It’s a lot of work but this way the chance of messing up is minimal.
