TWO Question before i buy a FD

I have two question before i buy this 93FD3S ..... right now the miles are sitting at around 100k.. .. the owner takes care of this car like a baby, and hasnt had a motor change yet. my question is, if its running fine now, and i take over where he left off at with the maintenance and stuff..... do i replace the apex seals when eva i get money, or just wait until the are gone?
Are there any signs to look for when the apex seals are about to go ? Thanks for anyone who can add their .02 centz.

I would just drive it till the engine goes then replace it...as far as knowing if the seals are going I believe when you start to have excessive smoking from the exhaust and it really smells like burning coolant then it usually means it's about time for a rebuild...

Hmm..mine starts up with alot of smoke in the morning..but it is kinda cold here right now..about 28 to 60 degrees every morning. It varies..

But after a few moments..all of it goes away. I read that this is normal.

My car definetly doesn't pull as strong as some of the other RX-7s do, but ever since I've gotten the car, I've noticed I really baby it alot more than I do my other cars.

It's like I don't want to rag on it. Two days after I bought it, I had all the fluids flushed and changed, and ordered new tires, brake pads, lines, bla bla...

I enjoy this car so much...

hmm....on average, not saying this is certainly going to happen, but on average rotary motors in the turbo configuration don't last to much over the 100k mark if they make it there at all. I would run it till it breaks and then buy a remand from mazda and go from there. No sense in fixing something thats not broken.

You should be prepared for the motor going. With 100K miles, I think it's coming. Just drive it until it dies.
Put some money aside just in case.

for the apex seals you can get a compression test done

for the coolant seals you can get a pressure test done

both of these aren't super helpful in giving a time when the motor will go. Even if the last owner took the best care of it in the world if it has run lean or overheated by accident this will make the difference. I know people who take care of their cars and they still have problems.

Just buy it expecting the motor/turbos to be needing replacement within the next 40k miles at MOST and obviously have the price lowered because of this. If you make it past that you will be making records or the owner lied and it's on the 2nd motor and turbos

You seem pretty excited about this, I know this was the best time ever when I first got my car. I've never been as happy with my car as that day, even though I've done some really cool things in it since then
