Arrow turbo carnage (not 56K friendly)

well im assuming i wont be able to use these turbos for much of anything anymore.... this is an old set that i just cracked open... i dont know if this is still usable at all? basically my plan was to pull the primary off and use it for a little coustom turbo setup for my D.D. miata, and use the secondary exhaust housing to replace the HORRIBLY CRACKED housing on the twins in my FD (this one is definatly not as bad).

i suppose these turbos had an unfortunate encounter with an apex seal... BTW these came from my project FD, and it seems after pulling each part on the car that there is not one decent piece on it. anyway, the secondary exhaust housing seems better than the one on my working set of twins so i think ill swap that.

im wondering if either of the rotating assembalies are the least bit useable for my little turbo miata project, or if i should just forget about it. i can only run 8psi max so maybe they would work ok??? tell me your opinion... maybe it would just end up restricting exhaust flow and it not worth the work to put damaged stuff in there.

anyway the best one is the rotating assembaly in the last few pics... tell me if you think its useable for 8psi in my miata, or if its garbage. same goes for the secondary housing in the first pic... do you think its in good enough shape to use on my working twins? thanks for checking it out, heath

Yeah. The Blades on the Turbine are too damaged. They'll create a severe unbalancing act!

well thats freakin dissapointing. i swear to god there is not one good piece in the project car i bought. i bought it wth an engine fire, but everything else seemed fine at the time. the owned said it was a GREAT CAR and really well taken care of... he also said the block and turbos only had 5K on them when it caught fire.... yeah f*ckin right. rule of thumb: any car that catches fire has NOT been well taken care of.

i was hoping to use the turbos, and block for my fathers FD when it goes (i have a new motor/everyting in the engine compartment etc)... but even the interior is complete crap now that ive had a chance to inspect everything further. the dash had screw holes in it, the steering wheel was junk, and im still debating whether i should keep the seats or not. anyway, the further i get into this the more it seems apparant that i overpaid way too much. i payed $5K for this car... basically all that im keeping from the interior is the carpet and the seats, everything else is being replaced. before i got the car he took out everything that he could get his hands on that was worth anything (black mats, divider in back of seats, cargo cover, the whole cat back system, 99 wing). i noticed today that the gas tank has been patched... its just one thing after another. Sorry for bitching, i just needed to vent my frustration.

the one thing i am happy about is that since i get to take out and replace EVERYTHING in the car (its literally just a shell now) i can add my own personal touches as well as replacing all the junk that was in there. i have a 94 dash, rear seats, sunroof, not to mention the 20b that will give this car back its youth. it truely breaks my heart to see a beautiful car like this trashed and neglected. ok, im done venting... its a nice *** day, im off to the beach! -heath

Cracked manifolds are nothing new. You can probably reuse at least that.

If you are used to driving most of these 100hp grocery getters, it doesn't take much for something to be "fast as hell". Even with damaged turbos, the FD can still "feel" fast to some.

Yeah, I agree. I think the wheels are toast and the manifolds are useable.
