Tanabe DTM Medallion?

I really like the stock look of a dual-tip catback...

I'm currently not satisfied with what's available in dual tips, but I am quite excited about the Tanabe DTM Medallion.

Here's Mackin Industries' link for their Tanabe exhaust line:

http://www.mackinindustries.com/dmedalion.html

I want something quiet, and subdued, and this exhaust might fit the bill...

Does anyone around here carry this exhaust for our FD Rx7s?

BTW can Rishie (ARD T2) get this for us as Rx7 Forum members?

Thanks in advance...

I dunno, that looks a little too much like rice. That looks just like the tips I see on the Integras and Civics. However, it might look alright but I wouldn't put it on an FD. It seems as though you want something flashier then the stock dual tips. Have you seen the N1 dual system, it doesn't look as stock at all. Unlike the RB dual or the M2 dual exhaust.

Hmmm....actually reminds me of the cool dual tips that all the BMW E36 M3s have...those cars are obviously NOT rice...

The other Tanabe option was the G-Medallion, 5-inch oval tip...definitely rice

Yeah I would definitely go with the G-Medallion.

Rishie PM'd me, and apparently the DTM is no longer available for the FD Rx7...damn...I guess I'll have to go with the RB mild steel duals, or the Tanabe G-Medalion....

<laugh> I beg to differ.

I was at a hybrid honda/240sx meet last weekend (don't ask) and this E36 convertible comes thru, rolling on 18"s....Dark green, big alum. APR wing, all the knicknacks, and some sort of weird diffuser in the back-looked like an array of winglets, and this was all to house sidemounted exhaust pipes.

Him and his pal driving a "Lanvic" proceeded to "do laps" around the meet for a couple rounds before pulling out onto the street.

I personally hate to use the term "rice" but this was blatant abuse of an E36. Up to the point this car came thru, I was sitting laughing at the atrocities of "TEAM MEXICO" and "TEAM NO REMORSE" further down in the parking lot... this car put their attempts to shame.

Oh-the "lanvic"...basically a civic with a Lancer Evo front bumper. Unpainted of course.

I wish I had snapped out of my jawdropping awe long enough to have taken pics of these things.

Do you not like the M2 dual? I am very pleased with mine; a little more attitude than RB but still quiet enough for daily use.

Damon,

I didn't like the welds on the M2 duals...not as well-done as say on an RB system or any of the Japanese exhausts (my current Greddy)...

I'm looking into the RB 304 system...there's apparently a $134 premium for this all-SS system, but I don't know why...anybody care to educate me on the differences between the RB systems 409 (for $515), and the 304 for $649?

Question

How is the exhaust Tone to the M2 DTM? Personally i like Throaty deep sounding exhaust's....My friend Uses a 3.5 inch Borla Unit on his 87' 944 Turbo....And i Must say it sounds perfect IMHO.......Also i believe Flybye is using the Borla Turbo XL universal applcation for his FD....And he tells me that he loves the exhaust tone, His only complaint about it is the sizes to each exhaust tip...Which are 2.5 ich each tip...

Yeah, I have to agree. The welds between the tips and can could use some improvement.

Damon,

Nonetheless, the M2 looks very good when installed on an FD...about the only thing going as far as dual tips go...

Still don't know what the differences are between RB dual tips $515 vs. $649?
