Zeal Function Xs coilovers tuning
I have a set of zeal Xs coilovers on a fd I recently purchased. I cleaned up the ride height (each corner was different) by a small margin this past weekend. After fooling around I ended up with the height at rear at 25.25 and front at 25. Car seems pretty low, I might take up each corner by an 1/8th or 1/4th. I haven't decided yet.
My question revolves around the settings on the top of the shock. I actually like the way the car feels from a comfort perspective but I think there is a lot of over steer. I ordered a tanabe front sway bar from evasive. It came damaged so they are sending me a new one. So I don't have a result yet as far as that goes. But I imagine it won't help much as the tanabe bar is only slitghtly stiffer than stock. I noticed the shock has 6 settings. Right now the fronts are set at 6. Is this the most firm setting or most soft? If I recall to reduce over steer I want the front firm and rear softer (do I have this backwards)? Does anyone know what this setting actually does to the shock? Are there other adjustments I can make besides height and this 1-6 setting?
Car is mainly a street car for Sunday's. I will do one or two road course events per year. Thanks for reading.

changing the shock setting only changes the speed at which that side reacts to control inputs, and not really the balance of the car. to change the balance of the car you need to change the hardware or alignment

Yep stiff slides 1st so increase compression and rebound if you want the front to slide or set 1st. I think the function x have fairly soft springs like 11kg F and 8kg R so I don't think spring rates are your problem.
However changing shock settings is really not the answer to over or under steer.
Tire pressure
Alignment
Tire size (which by the way what size tires are you running front and rear and what are the condition)
Sway bar
spring
and lastly shock adj which is really more about mid corner or keeping the car stable after it takes a set
And yes rake will cause over or understeer. High front the car will push. High rear the car will over steer.

Connector Resource
Recently I had to replace the Alternator and Oil Pressure sensors on the FD harness.
These connectors do not appear in any of the documentation in this thread. Or at least, I could not find them.
In searching for these I came across Wiring Specialties
This is pretty good site. While I didn't find what I needed by searching for Mazda connectors, I did find them by searching on the connectors by pin number page
Oil Pressure Connector
Alternator Connector
While these are not indicated as Mazda parts, they do fit. Auto manufacturers source a lot of common connectors from the same vendors.

The above link is listed above too, but it's kind of buried at this point, so listing it again for an awesome thread.
