stupid limp mode

hey guys.. no matter what i do i cant see mto get the car out of limp mode. Ive replaced the stock ecu with another one, taken off the fuel cut defender and resetted everything.

Im pretty sure my engine is in exceelnt nick as ive been driving it in limp mode for sometime now.. Its just annoying whenever i have positive pressure it will get all sluggish and cut out till vacuum drops below 0 again.

Its a JDM model so i cant do engine diagnostics so easily.

Have you checked for engine codes? You should have one.

If your oil metering pump is bad, that will keep the car in constant limp home mode. I'm sure that JDM ecus can generate codes.....

I think youve got a bit lost here mate,,, the ECU runs limp mode because theres an underlying problem,,,, pull the ECU code,,(there will defiantely be one) and fix this problem and the car will be fine. i suspect oil metering pump also,,,,mine failed on the same thing.

where is the OMP located?? is it easy to change?

The JDM models do have an ecu code but it takes a bit of messing around to get them cos we dont have a check engine light in the dash.

Mine(obviously) went into limp mode when the boost sensor hose came off. That prompted me into doing the long overdue hose job and everything was top notch afterwards.

Down by the turbos, under the front turbo.

No it isn't easy to change.

Many times the wiring is damaged but the OMP is OK. Check that the wiring didn't get tangled up with the belts.

If the ecu isn't getting a correct voltage reading for the OMP, does it for sure throw it in limp mode?

bump, since from the service manual it doesn't appear that the OMP not sending a proper reading (like a MAP sensor reading) would make it run in limp mode like it does when the map line comes off.

Anyone know for sure, yes or no on this?

Tim
