Strut bar clearance: oil pan, motor mounts, greddy elbow, hood

Im having issues with my strut bar. I have a greddy or knock off, and it just rubs the top of my duct to my scoote hood. (cosmetic)

after installing IRP's hardest motor mounts and banzai oil pan brace, the bottom of the strut bar doesnt clear the coupler on my greddy elbow. I believe its a 5 ply coupler and it looks to rub enough to wear out about 2 plys. i've thought about making a spacer which will add more clearance but i will have to cut my hood up...

Before i do anything crazy i was wondering if anyone has a similar set up where they are having clearance issues and did one particular brand solve that issue

I'm not sure how much space you have on the bottom, but if you have some space down there you could trim the size of Ihor's motor mounts so the engine would sit a lil lower. Also this is probably the most pain in the *** way of doing this.

My engine sits a bit higher than stock and so I modified the Greddy elbow to fit with the strut bar (and to improve the alignment of the I/C pipes). Anyway, I cut, re-angled the snout to fit and welded it back together. It works fine and looks good.

I don't think the Cusco will fit without modifying his Scoot hood (which he doesn't want to do).

could you put washers under the hoods hardware to raise the hood ever so slightly, I have a engine brace which is rubbing on my scoote hood, I haven't tried the washers yet though. Just a thought.

i dont mind cutting the hood, just wondering it theres any other solution before i hack it up... im thinking of making the "duct" feed air to my UIM to cool it off

possible but that just solves the hood hitting the strut which is more cosmetic. im more concerned about the strut rubbing and making a hole in the coupler

You really just need to trim those motor mounts shorter. If you can support the engine with an engine hoist it wouldn't be too bad.

You're looking at band-aiding and fixing a LOT of things when you really should address the root of the problem, get the engine sitting lower. Most likely a machine shop can machine those mounts down for a reasonable fee.

I think he has zero clearance between the oil pan and the subframe. So I guess he can't trim down the motor mounts.

I think you should space the strut bar and space the hood. Spaced hoods don't look bad IMO.

Best luck.

Support the motor and remove the motor mount arms. Remove the mounts and have the arms machined 3/16" to compensate for the thickness of the pan brace. If both are STEEL arms, there's plenty of material to do that and keep the strength.

You didn't have Ihor trim the motor mounts when you bought them?

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/oil-pan-brace-lose-clearance-910404/

If not, just have them trimmed down.
