STOCK TURBINE FD Vs 600+HP 300ZX

Guys i need your help. in a couple of weeks i have to race with a 500hp+100hp nitrous automatic Nissan 300ZX. It started for fun and now it getting ******* serious. The ZX guy is spending money like crazy just to prove that ZX's are better than our FD's. My car is a J-Spec 1999" and has everything needed to run high 11's to flat 12'. I am running a street ported engine, FMIC, fuel pump, aluminum radiator, HKS oil coolers, fully opened exhaust, non sequential turbines, air filters, Power FC, AVC-R etc. Estimated hp is about 400hp at the flywheel. I willl dyno the car next saturday. Now i am thinking of adding a 50-60 shot nitrous, 114 octane fuel, advance my timing through PFC in order to be able to kick his ***.

Any suggestions from you guys??? I don't want to humiliate the 7 for a 300ZX idiot. This race must be won!!!!

I don't know, You only have 400 (thats to the flywheel) probably 340 to the wheels, so that means that you might be racing someone with nearly double your power. I highly doubt that you are going to win, but I hope you the best.

Find a Civic that can beat you both to show that it is just how much you spend on / push a modded car that determines the winner.

Then find a stock automatic 300ZX and a stock RX-7 and have them race if he really wants to compare these two cars.

Given your 7's current state, the Z will win in my opinion. Nothing personal but you only go as fast as you can spend.

Stock comparison will be the best test...otherwise its who spends money on what.

dont miss any gears and practice your driving....then if needed, administer the cut-off and block maneuver!...and make sure you run from a dig....his heavy pig wont get out of the hole as well as your 7...unless hes got suspension and slicks..lol....maybe a lose weight quick plan would be to your benefit as well...try and get everything not needed in your car, out of it...just for that extra edge.....good luck...

You will weigh a ton less and jump off the line faster.

its going to be a close, but not impossible to beat!!

i think this 600hp monster will have added weight to an allready heavy car... and an auto...

how are you going to race? drag race or street race??

The race is gonna be a street race in the local roads since there are no drag tracks around here.

Then he will be using some slicks. I don't know what to use yet. I am thinking to use low profile drag radials, nitto 555R, since i am sure i will get of the line faster and what i will need then is speed to stay up front. i also have a set of M&H slicks but those reduce my trap speed.

Take in mid that i will shot a 50-60hp nitrous for that purpose.

A stock FD vs. a stock 300ZX (auto).. the FD should win. But it's true, the more money that is spent on the car somewhat determines the winner.. But you never can tell.. good luck man.

I must tell everybody that last year without my ported engine, no nitrous, on 14psi, 40degrees celcius outside temp and an uphill road using TAG HAUER timers i managed a 12.11 on 1/4 mile. What are possible 1/4 mile times for this ZX using slicks and what are possible 1/4 mile times for me on a straight road, adding the ported engine, 50hp nos and 20C outside temp?

If he really has 600bhp with NOS and his auto tranny can handle it you are in touble. If he has sticky tires he should be in the easy mid 11s and around 125mph in the 1/4 mile.

Panic I gotta be honest, I've never seen it run, but there is a 300z down at my school who's puttin out I believe 650 at the wheels...I don't remember the exact number, but either way I asked him what he runs in a quarter and he said on streets he's in the low 11's and on drag radials he's runnin mid 10's. with only 400 at the flywheel the only shot you would have would be from a roll. I just don't think the stock turbos got enough to dust a 600 hp beast. Although if its 600 at the fly for him then it could be close.

I must say that the ZX is about 500hp flywheel plus 100hp nos. Plus is the 2+2 longer version not like the short ones you have in the states. It weights about 1800kg?? My car weights only 1200kg with 400hp at flywheel and 50hp nos. My car is manual whereas the ZX is automatic??

I believe that it will too close but knowing my car i believe that 11.7'-11.8' 1/4 with nos is possible. I have never seen a stock body 600 flywheel hp auto ZX even with slicks running running below 12'.

The 300ZX with that much power will win. 400hp is just too little, and the lighter FD just won't be enough to take him, especially if you mess up AT ALL during shifting. I can easily see him making consistent mid 11's should everything be fine. However, I don't see why beating an FD with less power makes the 300ZX the better car. If the 2 cars were to square off, with equal power, the FD would obviously win.

Exactly. I would imagine that almost any 600hp car would be tuff to beat with a 300-400HP RX7. But you look better regardless!

Try this on both cars and see what you get.

No way does his car weigh 50% more than yours.

If you weigh 2800lbs, which I doubt then his would have to weigh 4200lbs.

I bet he does not have a stock auto tranny to handle that much power. If he modded his auto tranny you are really in big trouble.

I think you'll win no problem, my friend has a stock 94 fd and took out my cousin's manual 400-450hp 300z no problem. In a drag race tho.

The ZX is using the stock auto tranny but they have not used nos up to date. They will only use it for this race. To be honest i am not quite sure if the tranny will handle the extra power with sick tires?

If he's putting a 100hp shot of NOS for the first time he might blow his motor or his stock tranny.

You see this story began when we wanted to race each other without nitrous. His 500hp auto ZX and my 400hp manual 2660lbs RX7. Eventually the guy seemed to be afraid to race as that and he decited to add a 100hp shot of nitrous. Therefore i decited to add some 50hp nitrous too.

Knowing the launching characteristics of the ZX i believe that we will be one or two cars behind me from the 60ft. From there on our power to weight ratio seems to be similar with the difference that i using a manual tranny and low profile tires which give me my best trap speed.

The only way for me toose to this Zx idiot is only if i miss a shift or have a wheel hop during launching.

Am i missing anything else?
