Tomorrow i am taking my car for dyno tune and dyne test. I will try to make some more hp from mapping just to be sure i am gonna be well above 400hp.

Next weekend i will add some nitrous and make a couple of 0-400 runs to test the car. If i manage to hit 11.50" then i am sure he will not get me.

This ZX has only make one 0-400 run in the past when his car was only 360hp and his best result was 13.9" with NITTO's 555R. I don't know what he will be cable of doing now with his uprades?

And personally dont think you can take him unless his spins like a mad man. If he is making 600+ RWhp and your making 400Bhp which is only 340RWhp. He has almost a 300RWhp advantage over you. I dont see any fuel injector mods and if your running the stock fuel injectors your going to blow your motor spraying a 75 shot. There isnt anywhere close to enough fuel for 400rwhp with the stock injectors...as a matter of fact if your making 340rwhp your already pushing your fuel system to the limits.

What MPH does he run at the track??? That will tell us more than anything, his dyno could be BS....if he even did a dyno, he might just be full of **** and estimating.

...and while you may be able to jump him off the line, weight becomes less of a factor as velocity increases. With 500hp, and 100 shot, you very well could be in trouble. Are you guys only doing a qtr. mile run?

 

HI this is coming from a 300ZX owner under my friends' s/n. I have a similar set up minus the nos. Same GT2530 Turbos, downpipes, etc. Only difference is I have STOCK heads, pistons, cams, fuel pump etc. and NO NOS. I put down 528WHP/553WHP on PUMP gas. So I'd imagine he'd have more HP than that. So my guess if the Z hooks up, good bye RX7. I haven't lost to anything from a roll yet. Good luck, hope it's a friendly race, I like both cars.

Panic Seven YOUR GOING TO KICK HIS ***, the seven is so much lighter, who cares if that 300 has more horsepower, the thing is a fucken pig, its going to need all the power it can get to get it moving, with all that power he claims in that 300 not only is his tranny not up for the job, but his rear axle is going to go south, the rear axle on the 300 is also a weak link in the 300. **** man you will hand him his ***, PISTONS GET PISSED ON WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RX7 FOR LIFE!

Wow. That was interesting. From what I remember, FD rears aint all that tuff either. But who cares. I just wanna see results to prove that the RX7 CAN and WILL lose from time to time.

 

0-400 is 0-400 kilometers which is rougly a quarter mile. I would assume 11.50 is his quarter time.

 

i think fwd civics and rwd 300zxs are quite different animals when it comes to the traction necessary to get a good launch and a fast quarter.

in any case, i'm surprised his auto tranny is holding up to all that claimed power...especially if he drives the car hard in any regular amount. if the tranny holds, he'll have a much easier time just mashing the throttle and letting the auto shift for him than it will be for you to get your shifts down.

Are we assuming that the 300Z has never raced with this much power before? I know about the Nitrous, but I'm sure the guy has been in a race or two before, and knows somewhat about what he is doing, if he is pushing 500hp.

I would also insist upon best of 3 runs. Do your best on the 1st. If it wasn't close, and you know you can't win, run the next 2 times without NOS, and maybe you can get him to frag his car. Then you will have the ultimate satisfaction of driving home intact!

 

About the only things you are missing, that would help, are a 4.77 final gear, a carbon fiber driveshaft, KAZ differential, upgraded axles and JATO units

If you intend to beat on this puppy with all that HP, you will need the diff and axle upgrades.

 

What??? In the car and driver test in '93 where they tested the Supra, RX7, 300ZX and VR4, the 300ZX was second to the Supra with a 13.80 pass, the RX7 ran a 14.00. Stock vs. stock. Also, My '95 300ZX ran a 13.98 stock and I could only get a 14.10 out of my seven. I'm neutral here because I own both cars but just my own experience.

 

Circuit with barely a straight. Stock 99 fd can get ZX EZ with good driver, even if ZX is 400hp or what the hellever.

the skyline runs like 13 seconds flat on the 1/4 mile just annihilating the FD off the line. Point: Skylines are better cars than FD's? Some of you kids are so mixed up and backwards about cars...

I live close to you buddy..if you didn't get to race I'll race you no problem. My Z has a stock motor with some usual upgrades.

Wanna run? I'll even videotape it for everyone.

 

Hmmmm - yeah that setup will run 500bhp to the wheels if it is tuned ok.

NOS aint a factor IMO - he sprays above about 5psi of boost he will weld his number 6 pot straight away !

He will be using the NOS for anti lag on those turbo ( if he has a clue ) as they lag quiet badly on the VG30DETT. If this is the case he will be sideways thru out the hole and probably still be spinning in 4th gear ! unless he is on serious slicks and a modded rear axel.

And yeah the guys are correct he will fry even a modified auto box at over 450bhp - if he aint spent 10k with level 10 he will just be cooking his TC's and probably wont be putting much more power down than that. This will put you on a much more even pegging.

Dont screw up the launch and make sure every bit of power you put down counts - when he starts to get into the serious torque range just close your eyes and prey you have put enough room between you.

If he has Traction controll with launch i would be a little more worried but not too much

Personally i doubt his car will do less than a 12.5 and i have serious experience with Z32's.
