So, my turbo is bleeding. I need a bandaid

So i to it to my uncles shop, and it was the first time this thing was on the lift. I've had a 7-5-7 boost pattern since i bought the car. I found oil all over the turbo. WE couldnt quite see where it was coming from

Im pretty sure this is where my leak is, any comments?
is this a "at home" fix or should I have it sent somewhere?

Dealerships can do nothing right, less than 5k on these new turbos and somethings wrong.
I need to rebuild the turbos? how much can I expect to pay if i take it to kd or rx7store?

Don't jump to conclusions. The oil could be from one of the lines going to the turbo, and not the turbos themselves. The boost pattern could be non-oil related, and it could just be a problem with the control system.

Have you seen this page? http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm

Go through some of the troubleshooting things in there before you start shelling out cash for new turbos. But if you must know, KDR charged me about $1400 to rebuild my stockers. That seems to be about the industry standard for rebuilding the twins.

First, check the oil return lines for the turbos. They have a tendency to leak as they get older and they are usually not replaced when installing a new set of turbos by most shops.

Have you verified the boost restriction pills are installed? It's pretty strange that you are seeing exactly 7 PSI which is what you would see without the restrictor pills installed (basically the lowest setting you can have with the stock wastegate).

Not to make you dig further, but on later turbos the restriction is actually built into the pressure source nipples. To check this, you can pull the lines off the upper connector (the pressure source), put a vice grip onto the nipple body (ouch!), and carefully twist the body out of the manifold. Then look down the ends of the nipples and look to see if they have a narrowing in them.

My 93 had it's turbos replaced by a dealership before I got the car. It seems to have been done in 94 (service records). I had no restrictors in the actuator lines, but did have the restrictions in the pressure source nipples. I had to drill them out to allow manual boost controllers.

Yep, that is something else to check.

If you find that you require the pills (as most 93's do unless you have the same situation as spurvo had), you can order them from various places but here are the sizes you need:

Stock Pill sizes are:
Wastegate - 0.064in (Drill # 52)
Precontrol - 0.059in (Drill # 53)

If you have extra vacuum tubing laying around (and everyone should), just cut them off. If you need to install pills in there, you may as well replace the lines when getting new pills.
