should i boost?

i want to test my turbo/boost before i bring my car to a tuner... here are my mods that i have just completed:

- DP
- MP
- RB Dual Tip
- Apexi Intake
- PFC (base map)
- 550/1300
- Walbro pump
- Fuel pump rewire
- FMIC
- Koyo rad
- Blitz dual spec R boost control
- AI (water)
- ACT S/S clutch and prolight flywheel

gauges for monitor:
1) boost
2) egt
3) water temp

boost or tune first and hope my turbo boost right?

If you hooked up everything right I'd leave it for your tuner to tune it. You really think it's worth it to see how fast it is and risk a engine?

I say leave it and be patient. I had to drive a untuned single turbo fd while making no boost because it wasn't tuned. Well worth the wait

leave it for your tuner, but you're missing a wideband, I would've done that instead of the water temp gauge as the PFC can monitor water temp for you.

I assume you have it running properly? no leaks?
From my own personal experience, make sure your fuel filter is good, and boost leak test it (with the car off of course) BEFORE going to your tuner.

These were the two things that cut my tuning session short.

good point thanks. i just want to make sure the car boost right.. not to see how fast it can go. i hate to waste time or worse money with the tuner.

how do you run a boost leak test with the car off???

have your tuner find out if there is an issue that needs to be worked out or cause yourself a $3k mistake in the process of trying to save a few hours diagnosis from your tuner.

making a boost pressure tester is as easy as finding some irrigation piping at home depot that fits the turbo inlets, cap the primary turbo inlet and drill and install a tire valve stem into the secondary turbo adapter you make. you can also put a pressure gauge into it if you really like but i really find it's not that necessary so long as you don't go crazy with the pressure.

I was going to say you might want to get a wideband wont that make the tuners job easier/safer?

I would not boost until you or your tuner went through the map and had it safe and close to where it needs to be.

Most tuners would not use the wideband installed on the car but would swap your sensor for theres. At least, that's what some rotary tuner shops in socal area tell me.

Ported waste-gates are a must at this point. With your mods, you will see creep. As far as boosting on the basemap goes, DON'T.

A wide-band is a good idea, whether your tuner uses it or not. It's wise to have one at all times.
