wastegate area cracks

So I pulled my turbos apart last night, as I am working on them to go non-sequential. As I was pulling them apart I Noticed a few small cracks in the area of the wastegate flapper. Now I know cracks in that area are pretty common, but I just want to make sure I am ok before I go have the hole ported.

Am I going to run into any issues? Should I weld up as much of the crack as I can? Should I just leave it alone?

Thanks

Seth

As long as the cracks do not expose a way for air to go around the wastegate door, then you are fine. What a lot of people do when going non-seq, is to switch out the wastegate door for the slightly larger pre-control door (which becomes unused). This allows you to go larger with your porting.
