Thanks guys. I have seen both of those, but I thought there may have been more info involved.

Ima jump on this tomorrow =)

The reason I ask, my Hi-flo cat is chunking, so I figured I'd hollow it out. I have an M2 reflash (PFC on the way!!) and a manual boost control (PF stock mount int., freshly cleaned injectors, dp, 3" cb, an a couple other minor things). Should i be safe for the time bein, or should I leave the stock cat on for now and wait for the pfc + tune?

Just get a good bit and go around the hole until the wastegate just barely has enough left to seal off the hole. Don't overport

I did mine recently. I locked my manifold piece in a vice on the drill press platform. I removed the flapper and welded on a larger diameter piece when I completed my port and polish job. Works great and took care of boost spikes and gave me a little more piece of mind.

I believe the final diameter for the hole was ~1.35". I found a hemispherical grinding stone mounted on a shaft in my junk drawer which was the exact diameter I was making the port. The hole was chamfered and the flapper also was beveled around the mating edge.

Hey man, you're in the Bay Area? Would you want to do this together? I'm probably going to want to port my wastegate for whenever I get a midpipe/high flow cat. Porting the wastegate helps eliminate boost creep correct?

Helps to keep it in check, yes.

HardHitter: ^^ what Monk said. I'm in the north bay -- Vallejo. I'm going to port mine tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. If I feel confident enough, and you need help, by all means, I'd be happy to help you out.

Bump to my question on post #4, regarding my Hi-Flo cat.

Of course the stock cat would be safer. You should be fine with the midpipe and M2 ecu if you can keep boost at 10 psi. I would not run more than 10 psi with the M2 ecu with a midpipe.

I have no plans to go more than 10 lbs. Will doing this prove to be benificial though? ie: better turbo response?

No, if you overport the wastegate you will actually have slower spool up.

The only reason the port the wastegate (as far as I know) is to prevent boost creep.
