replacing alternator belt
i was getting my oil changed and one of the techs pointed out that my alternator belt looked like it was missing some of the teeth on it, a sign that the belt needed replacement soon. i tried a search to see if there were any popular choices among FD owners, and also a ball park figure to how much members on here have paid to have theirs replaced?

Unless your really nervous about doing your own work, I would suggest you just get the belts from Ray @ malloy, and do the install yourself. IIRC, they were pretty cheap (less than 50 bucks), and its a no-brainer install. Should take you all of 15 minutes to do yourself.

thanks. the tech told me that with a worn down alternator belt, the car is probably losing performance and getting gas mileage less than what the car should be getting. i'm hoping that it's somewhat noticeable after the fix

You can get the belt from jsut abotu anywhere. The stock belt comes with a length on it. Just count the teeth and go to any auto parts store and tell them you need the same belt. Loosen the tensioners and slip the belts on. Then re-tighten the tensioner.
