FL Atkins multirib pulley set, worth it?

Is anyone running one of these on their cars? If so, I would love some feedback.

Atkins' Aftermarket Pulley Kit

I am considering ordering one, because I can not seem to keep an alternator belt (single or dual) from slipping for more than a few days. A glimmer belt system is not wanted by myself, noise and loss of a/c and power steering.

not a bad set up, if you have PS and AC the remaining v-belts would annoy me.

I have a custom set up I put together from a cosmo, so its all ribbed belts even the AC ( used a FD AC compressor and tensioner ) I have a factory manual steering rack so no PS

I don't think it retains the air pump pulley for an S5.

I'd be all over it if it did, stupid v-belts slip like crazy on the alternator, and I got it tight as hell with a new belt (slightly tighter than factory recommended belt deflection). If I made it any tighter, I'd destroy my front stationary bearing.

Yes, the factory pulley/hub are a matched pair they(atkins) wouldn't have a chance of making timing marks that actually line up for an aftermarket pulley.

Correct it does not allow for air pump. If you had a space pulley free(p/s of a/c) you could probably space the airpump or flip to pulley to allow it to work, but as it sits no. Is your alternator larger or rewound that its causing more drag? I have a 150amp rewound FD unit on my Tii(double v-belt) and it only slips a bit in the summer(stop and go city traffic in the southeast) with the factory clutch fan is locked.

I see why. I didn't realize they have it as a one size fits all type... So if they were to mark them they would have to have separate part numbers for pre / post 86 since they will only fit the post 86 hub in one orientation.

No its per hub/pulley. You can only install a pulley on a hub one way, because one of the 4 bolt holes is drilled/tapped offcenter. A pulley and hub is considered a matched pair, this isn't an S4/S5 difference.

Got you s/4 s/5 hubs and pulleys don't all match up but this part is also design to fit s3 13b and 12a engines so even if they were to have marks they would have to have two separate part numbers otherwise there would be two tdc marks per pulleys. But I get what your saying s4 s5 pulleys are inconsistent so the tdc varies from pulley to pulley .

I used to run the mazdacomp(?) set, which it had timing marks, and loved it (was not running air pump, PS nor AC) Only reason why I got rid of it is because I went with a REW engine.

It is a nice kit, we have it on our 13B-Re Vert, which still has A/C. Make sure you buy the kit specific to the water pump that you are running, since the S4 pump has a different center bore than the S5.

Also used it on a 13B-RE GSL-SE we built

Still recommend installation of our alternator bracket, for proper tensioning. Pulleys & Belts (86-91 RX-7)

I do like that belt tensioner, may need to snag one sometime soon after the new year. Would be nicer than the half assed nut/bolt setup i have with the FD alt right now.

Sorry to thread jack, but would this (Alt bracket) work with an FD alt on an FC?
