do i need to plug these?with pics.

It seems that when the main tube in the photo (on the right) isn't plugged i get real bad backfiring. I noticed that it is a vacuum tube of some sort so i am not sure if it is supposed to be plugged. anyways here are the pics. o and the tube that is zipped to the intake in not plugged completely but has a plug with a small hole in it inside the tube.

thanks

this is where the tube that is in question leads to

this is a picture with both the tubes in it.

i dont know why is might cause your fd to backfire. the first picture is of the airpump, just make sure nothing gets sucked up in there. it wont hurt to keep it the way it is though. would be better though to have it routed into your intakes like ther rest

The pipe on the right is the suction pipe fot the air pump and the pipe on the left (tie wrapped to the secondary turbo intake pipe) is the air relief from the air control valve(ACV).

If you intend to keep the air pump functional then you need a filter of some kind on the suction pipe and you may want to put a silencer of some kind on the relief pipe.

I disabled my air pump and it totally cut out the backfiring and it seems to run more....um....solid might be the best word for it. I just need to make sure that i don't have an operational cat cause if i do it wont be operational for long.

For that tube that's zip tied to the other tube...you can probably leave it as is, but I ended up drilling some holes on one of those chair cap things and capping that tube.

As for the air pump, if your intending on running an air pump, you might wanna consider putting a little breather filter on that pipe.

That intake should have provisions for those hoses. Is that an open hole in the middle of the upper cast aluminum pipe or is it plugged? That ast looks like its about to burst too.

AST = air separation tank. It's the little black unit with the small radiator cap attached to and just behind the IC (intercooler). The stock ones tend to get brittle with age and break. If yours is turning green or any color other than pure black, it's probably on its last legs.

If anything you should put breather filters over those open tubes. No reason to have them open to the atmosphere without some sort of filter or plug to keep them from sucking in random ****.
