Porting the Wastegate

I bought an FD about a little over a week ago and it came with these mods "downpipe, midpipe, apexi n1 single tip, and Greddy Trust Intake. I know that with these mods I will have boost creep. I only have 1300 miles on the engine so I haven't even got on it yet. I was wanting to know if anyone had any pics on porting the wastegate or anything. I understand you should port it to 1.24" right? Should I just use the dremal I have or purchase something better? Also what bit should I use on a dremal?

Look in the FAQ links under "Wastegate Porting".

I think with a dremel you want the most aggressive grinding tool they have - it will take longer with a low-power tool of that sort.

There should be more on www.fd3s.net, or check out what people use for engine porting (also cast iron).

Unfortunately I haven't done it, I just have links to share

As a suggestion, find someone with a die grinder. I think I would have hung myself if I used a dremel for this. A die grinder with a good metal cutting bit will make quick work of your wastegate. I just drew a circle around it and ground it out just shy of the marks and then blended it back into the turbo housing.

I open the hole on a mill to 1.3 inches and use a die grinder to radius the lower edge for better flow .At 1.3 inches a new bigger door is installed . My port is open to 1.38 on the BNR stage 3 supersized set I run . If I was you I would get an air diegrinder, if no air compressor get an electric diegrinder .I have a Makita 1/4 inch collet ,25000 rpm . It will do the job .Good skill to you .
