water temperature problems?

The Greddy Temperature gauge has been showing me some odd numbers and i was wondering what the problem was.

Upon driving the car the temperature would stay between 90-97 celsius, but when stopped, the water temp would rise to 109-110 celsius!!! Thats 230 degrees F!! The weird part is that the fans still dont kick in until about 40-50 seconds after comming to a stop?

The temperature outside was a cool 59-65 degrees F. And the car has upgraded 99spec fans, a signal-auto radiator shroud, fluidyne radiator, and stock mount intercooler.

Could it be that the gauge is giving wrong numbers? The car is boosting and sounding fine, there is not a single abnormal sound comming from the engine.

The only other problem i can think of is that since the airpump is removed, it is somehow messing with the water pumps ability to do its job?

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you

Forgot to mention, that when the fans kick on, it only cools the engine down to about 104-105 celsius and turns off...

Fans coming on late and shutting off early, I also suspect the thermoswitch, and it woud be a good time to change it out for the FC switch. But the aftermaket shroud and "99 spec" fans are curious. The airpump shouldn't have anything to do with it.

The stock ECU/thermoswitch doesn't turn the fans on until 226 F or so (I forget the exact number). So that sounds fairly normal to me. Get an FC thermoswitch in there so the fans come on earlier or install a switch to turn the fans on.

Could be, but I doubt it. Did you get new pulleys when you removed the airpump? Usually when the airpump is removed it severely reduces belt contact with the water pump pulley and the belt can slip. I would imagine this is a bigger problem when accelerating at high RPM, not at idle where you are experiencing your problem.

yup i it's got the greddy pulley kit...It can work with the airpump however ( i think?)

The gauge sender is in the filler neck which i believe is the correct place...

Wow 226 degrees F, thats a lot... i guess it is fc thermo-switch time. heh

Thanks

I just researched some threads about people's average water temperature in their fd, and i found out that most of them with upgraded radiators and whatnot, are experiencing 86-89 degrree Celsius during normal driving and about 95-96 degrees when they are stopped at idle.

How come, it is (normal) for me to be experiencing 95-97 degrees celcius, when driving normal and 105degrees celsius when im stopped?

This is not making much sense to me...

Thanks

How old is your coolant? Is the front of your radiator clean? Maybe change out the thermostat and add that FC thermoswitch and see what you get.
Just to confirm, you do have an undertray on your car....correct? Some guys have taken them off for various reasons and have seen higher temps.
One other thing. In your first post you said the fans don't kick on right away, and when they do you guage reads 230 F. IIRC, low-speed fan kicks on at 221 F. and medium-speed at 226 F. I wonder if one of the fan relays aren't working?

i say just hook up a switch , u have a gauge, so when it gets to a temp that you dont feel comfortable with, u can just swtich the fans on, there a link on how to in the FAQ section under F.. it took me about an hour to wire the relays up to a clean mounted switch... good luck

You don't need to rig up a switch. Turn the parking lights on and switch the AC on - that will get the fans going at medium speed.

I frequently had over 100 deg. C temps on my car before my fan controller. Proper fan control is essential, IMHO. Start with an FC thermoswitch.
