Poll: Dip Switch Settings on AEM C2DI

I need to know what your dip switch settings are, AEM does not agree that they should all be OFF, as steve @ gotham racing has told me his is, and as others of you have stated.

I think my unit is bad, so as a troubleshooting technique, we are trying to decide what the dip switches should be at.

Let us know

Im running the power FC

all 3 dip switches are 0ff

I tried to wire it up without the stock ignitor and it didnt fire??no spark and i soldered all the wires boohoo

Then I used the stock ignitor and wired it in between the ignitor and coils. Worked first turn of the key?

someone on the aem forum wired it up without the ignitor and I think he had haltech, but had to change back to with the ignitor so I dont know whats up with eliminating the ignitor maybee a wierd signal like the supra?.

You have any pics of your setup? I'll be attempting this soon. You leave the stock ignitor in place and then just connect the AEM right before the coils? Did you use the stock coils? Got a lot of questions for ya!

Hey, jspecracer7

I can email you pics.

Yes I used the stock coils.

I actually tried to wire it up without the stock ignitor first, so I installed the aem in the same place as the stock ignitor. Then It didnt work so I had to wire it up with the stock ignitor and relocate the stock ignitor.

I took the short harness out of the car that goes between the coils and main harness(im using the upgraded short harness no ground wire comin out). And spiced in it, very simple. A stock wiring diagram helps

I can give you a better write up if you need

I would be interested too. have the AEM unit sitting in my garage ready to install. I was also wondering, how effective this upgrade is with the stock coils and ignitor?

Thanks
Claus

I measured the voltage going to the stock coils and with the stock ignitor alone it was 240 volts or somewhere around there and with the aem c2di hooked up it was 480 volts and that with the ign switched on and engine off.
Dunno about effective cause I have only used stock coils and ignitor. Cant compair to any other coil/ignitor combo.
Seemed to work better than the hks twin power I used to have. Cheaper too.
I also watched the spark jump a gap with this tool I have and with the c2di it was 3-4 times hotter, brighter, bigger than stock.

AEM is in! I bought a used one off of ebay, got a friend of mine(thanks rfreeman!) to scan and e-mail me the install instructions, bought the necessary connectors(so I could go from stock wiring to AEM and back).

Wouldn't start up at first(I made a bad choice for the main ground) and did some troubleshooting...and now I know what 480 vdc feels like...that **** hurt. I'm an electronics tech/fiber installer by trade so I guess I got a little overconfident :P

I would go out tuning tonight, but my right arm is numb.

240v/480v at coils? that's impossible...the coils themselves are the step up transformers...you wouldn't see a difference in voltage unless you measured the coil output....

and besides, think like this..if the coil is getting 240v stock, what is supplying that? the ignitor is just a switch...not a power source
