Question Only 7lbs of Boost

How can I tell if I'm leaking Boost or only making 7lbs. of Boost? I replace all my silicone hose coupler on my FD’s intake system this weekend. At the same time I replaced 5 of the 6m vacuum hose down by the front turbo. I though maybe I had crossed a couple of the hoses. I double-checked the routing (http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/turbo_controls.jpg) last night and they're routed correctly. I also replaced the vacuum hose to my brake boost. In order to remove this hose I disconnected the wire to the boost sensor, next to the firewall above the brake booster.
When I was done replacing everything I started the car, before reconnecting the wire to boost sensor, by mistake. The motor would not idle with the boost sensor wire discontented. After reconnecting the boost sensor, the motor idled fine. But now I only have 7lbs of boost. I retightened all my hose clamps on the couplers. I put the original hose back on the brake boost, with no change.
So, how do I know if I’m making only 7lbs? Is it possible that I broke the boost sensor?
Secondly, does anybody know how to check leaks in the piping system? Maybe I’m making 10lbs and leaking.
The car runs fine, except for the lack of boost
Thanks for any advise in advance.

Do a search on boost pills. Did the same thing after I hooked up a junk Avc-r.

I didn't see a pill inline in the original hose. Is there one inside the hose?

Yep, sounds like you replaced the hoses that contained the restrictor pills. You should also reset the ecu, since you started the car with the MAP hose disconnected.

7lbs is what you'd run if there were no boost pills. its the wastegate spring. check on Crash's advice. here's a ton of stuff on the subject if you haven't already seen it.

What year is your car? Most 94's and all 95's (including dealer replacements) didn't have pills. To reset te ECU, unhook the negative battery cable and go hold the brake pedal down for about 30 seconds.

That was it, put the old hoses back on car with pills inside them. My FD is Race Ready again.
Has anyone every tried to remove pills from stock hoses and install them in a silicone hoses? It feels like they're glued in place. I not sure if they can be glued in a silicone hose.

Use holley carb jets (I read that size 59 is the same as stock (double check me thought ) ) I personally would take the time and just go the MBC route

nah, they're not glued just really tite. i pushed mine out with a straightened coat hanger

you can use those carb jets to control boost too, depends on how much/less restriction they add.

I race autocross and I think that would bump me out of the ASP class. It would nice if I could get away with it.

so the pills on a stock 93 with original turbo's are inside the vac line? not spliced inline? with my PFC im having trouble controlling boost I get 10 primary and 15 secondary... the secondary starts at 10 and creeps to since I don't want to run 15, so I let off the gas a bit. I have 3" turbo back no cat on stock turbo's
i replaced all the lines that should contain pills and set the PFC duty cycle to 20% ( the lowest it'll go) I did't see a difference.
maybe I should start a new thread
