? oiling an Apexi intake ?

I purchased a used Apexi intake, and have finally cleaned it up.

It didn't come with any instructions.

Are you suppose to oil it like a K&N air filter, or not ?

Thanks,
:-) neil

No, the Apex filter should not be oiled. It should be cleaned with compressed air.

I wouldn't blow compressed air on the filter. You are bound to blow a hole in the filter element. I clean them at the shop with the K&N recharger kit.

I use compressed air at a very low setting, I was under the impression that they shouldn't get wet.

Getting wet isn't a problem. Using an inappropriate soap/cleaner could be a problem and damage the filter. Use their recharge/cleaning kits with their filters:

Not turning this in to a big debate but I quote from APEXi "Use only compressed air for cleaning. Solvents, cleaning fluids and water should not be used as this may damage the element" end of quote. Straight for APEXi printed advertising and instruction pamplet. Just repeating what they said.

I pulled the 2006 MSDS for the K&N Air Filter cleaner (attached), and I think I'm going to soak it in some diluted liquid detergent.

The active ingredient is, Sodium Metasilicate Pentahydrate.

Apexi filter. Someone suggested using the K&N cleaner.
