Arrow Oil pressure issue

I have a big oil pressure issue... The oil gauge shoots all the way up when I turn the car on... Is my gauge broke or is there a bigger issue?

120 psi cold is not unusual. What weight oil are you using? Is this the stock gauge?

Then >120 psi cold is normal. Unless you really need it for some reason, IMO, 20W50 is too heavy.

Could the oil sensor be bad... The gauge shoots up past 120 when the car is not on

Yes, the stock sensor for the stock gauge is notoriously flaky. Sometimes it can be cleaned out, but often just needs to be replaced. Search - there are many threads on this subject.

Make sure you didn't over tighten the sensor. Try backing it back off about 1/4 of a turn.

I've seen it ground out and just peg the gauge when it gets power.

don't want to jack the thread, but wont open up another one either:

a friend of mine has a rebuild FD (rebuild engine with 3mm apex seals), the oil pressure gauge (aftermarket HKS unit) doesnt show any pressure while driving

- there is enough oil in the sump
- when removed the gauge shows pressure when using air

what could this be? oil is being pumped as the filter element gets wet after some cranking - no idea if there is enough pressure or not?

could it be that his sensor is being pushed together while being screwed in and prevents it from functioning? it is mounted in a Greddy adapter plate, when removed it always works...

thanks
