Oil Leak...

I have a oil leak that seems to be coming from near the oil filter, but I cant figure out where it is directly coming from. Here is my problem though. I cant get the car to the shop until Thursday, and I dont have time to get the oil changed between now and then (Work 12 hours a day).

I keep checking the oil level, but the oil level hasnt changed in almost a week even with this oil leak which kind of worries me. Also I am not sure of the weight of oil in the engine.

What may I be doing wrong that I cant see the oil level change? Also is it bad to mix 10w with like 20w?

I have some bottles of 20w that I got when I purchased the car, and wasnt sure if that was what is in it. I thought I knew a good amount about cars, but then I found out this car is a woman with wheels and I know nothing. Thanks for the help.

Did you check the oil cooler line that comes from the oil filter pedestal? Also check the oil pressure sensor... As far as mixing the 10w and 20w, I did it before and had no problems.

Sounds like the oil filter pedestal O rings. A very slow but very noticeable leak(noticeable from the engine bay but not so much from the dipstick). Over time the O rings under the pedestal get very brittle and start to let oil seep out. Wash off the area with some Simple Green and check for oil leaks after your next drive. Repacing the O rings isn't incredibly hard. Order new ones from Ray at Malloy Mazda. Be sure to specify that you need the O rings for the oil filter pedestal(if you decide that's where the leak is). The oil filler neck also takes an O ring and I've heard some people mixing them up when ordering.

Don't mix the oil. If you have to add a bit it won't hurt, but I like to keep it all the same.

Lightbulb Maybe it's this

I found my oil leak....Still trying to find out what is supposed to go there. It's directly behind the oil filler neck.

It's under the Throttle Body and the UIM.

I think the oil was overfilled a bit too...I am getting an oil change on monday, so we will see after that what happens.

The engine was rebuilt and has less than 2500 miles on it, so it shouldnt be any major problem.
