oil filter and plugs
Guys, Hi.
Hoping that I can get some advice on the best filters and plugs to use for my 1993 RX7. No Mods at all and I will be using Castrol GTX 10 40.
Many Thanks
Andrew

You should do a search
Practically any name brand filter is good, long as its not a walmart but even then i doubt you will have problems associated with that. YOu have alot of more other important things to worry about.
OEM or mobil 1 are good filters.
As for spark plugs, the stock NGK 7 & 9 are fine if you're stock. If you have some mods like bolt ons, all 9s wont hurt. Thats what i run with no problems.

*Bosch Oil Filters - part# 3300
*NGK Plugs - Depending on your mods and your driving, go with the stock settings of two 7s and two 9s or go all 9s like I did because I do alot of stop and go driving.
*Don't even try to get an absolute on what type of oil. If you do a search for oil on here there will probably be about 10,000 threads. However, I would use a full synthetic, if it were me. Good Luck to ya.

I use the Mazda filter specified for the car. I believe it works as well as any, though I am tempted to use the more expensive K&N filter that fits. I'm not sure it's really any better though.
Whatever filter you choose make sure it has the anti-drain back valve that's in the factory filter.
I'd also suggest a 10w-30 oil as specified in the owner's manual over a 10w-40.
There are almost as many opinions on oil and related subjects as there are forum reader's rectums. If you have any doubt, I'd always suggest going with the factory recommendations.

If I were you I'd at least read this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...formulated+oil
I would pay special attention to the replies by "Kento".
As far as factory reccomendations are concerned...keep in mind that many race teams, aftermarket manufacturers, oil companies and private rotary owners have had many years to test oils in rotary engines since Mazda wrote the owner's manuals for these cars. I would go way beyond my research of oils and it's effectiveness on rotary engines that just sticking to the owner's manual. Just my .02
