sholuldnt... it a waste of money.

it doesnt do much. you might as well just use that $10 or so on race gas. octane boosters will only give you less than a point or so from what ive heard.

Cool. I wasn't sure what the deal was with that stuff and rotaries. Thought it might richen things up a bit. One in particular though states that it raises the octane by 6 to 8 points, if mixed with a certain amount. 104 Octane plus, off road, I think it is. Anyway, just curious. Thanks for the input.

I think it's more like .6-.8 points

As in 93 to 93.6 or 93.8 and that's tops. Not worth much Hp, better to go with the Toluene or Xylene mixtures in your gas. I bought a bunch, but haven't run it in my cars yet, so I'll let you know later this week. If you're not familiar with the Toluene or Xylene then do a search for Xylene and read those threads. I'm just sick of my V8 pinging like a **** on this 91 octane premium crap here in CA.

There was a article on NOS Racing Octane boost awhile back. On a Skyline... I think it added 5 - 7 hp. The Mag. was "Import Tuner" I beleive.

I have been using it now for a couple years. Wouldn't
go with-out it. (14 - 14.5 pds of boost) and only 92 octane is the highest pump gas here.

I guess it really depends on how much boost you run?
If you run 10 pds then don't bother with it.

But if you run higher boost. The extra few Dollars can save you a Apex seal from Detonation. I wouldn't recommend running more than 15 pds-without a upgraded ECU though.

If you run lotts of octane boost it can foul plugs occassionally. Has anyone else had this happen?

best boosting wishes, jc.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but octane does not have anything to do with increasing power (unless that NOS Racing Octane boost has something in it I'm not aware of)

Octane is just a measure of the resistance to ping (or detonation). I don't believe there will be any performance improvement in adding octane booster unless your car is already pinging.

Yes, but when the ecu detects pinging, it retards the timing. Most modern engines run this way. Car and Driver just did a test on several vehicles with reg and premium gas. It actually made a several hp difference in most of the cars.

I run Sunoco 94 octane daily on the roads. I use 104 octane Sunoco for track events. If on a budget, I use octane booster. I don't use high octane for better horsepower, I use it for protection against detonation.

the higher the octane the slower it burns. that is the reason for using it. good way of putting it. you shouldnt use the higher to MAKE more HP. but use it as a cushion against detonation.
