Question No filter on the MAP sensor hose, bad?

I've noticed that I don't have the gas filter that goes from the intake manifold to the MAP sensor. Is this a bad thing?

When I did my hose job, I noticed mine was backwards. I don't think it damaged anything.

Actually, there are quite a few parts that aren't on the diagrams/fische.. The last one I ran into were the studs on the throttle body. They list the ones on the UIM, but not the throttle body. I live in Ford country, so no automotive shop had anything that would work.

The parts guy at Mazda found something close that worked just fine thank goodness.

Yes - it's there to protect your $400 sensor.
Mazduh will get you for about $25 for the little bastard, but put in on.

I have a fuel line filter from a lawnmower on mine, I think. It was like $3.

Not that kind of gas. Gas like the phase of matter. It keeps crap from getting into your MAP sensor. It's the thing that I'm holding, and that's the direction it's supposed to go.

Yes this I know. I'm not a moron. However, they are both simple screens that will serve the same purpose. When my car was stripped, the original disappeared ... along with most everything else.

you're sure it's not to prevent any liquid fuel/oil that might be in the intake from getting to the MAP?

'cos if you think about it, there isn't really any airflow to/from the MAP, and any air that is there would be/should be filtered already since it gets its pressure/vacuum from the intake manifold.
