long story short my brake pedal does not firm up i have bleed the brakes for two days i went through two big bottles of fluid. abs has been removed and i bench bleed the MC before doing the regular 2 man bleed at each wheel.

i can spin my wheels when the brakes are applied. a couple thing i have noticed is when i push my brakes down air comes out of the brake vacuum line and when it goes back up air is sucked in. i also noticed the line doesn't have a check valve.
there is no visible leaks coming from the MC or any other part of my brake system.

so i guess i narrowed it down to the MC being bad, brake booster, or the check valve.

so which one is it?

 

go in your car and pump the brake pedal few times and see if it firms up. After it did, did it slowly sink back into the floor?

Does it feel spongy or you are NOT getting any brake at all?

Did you remove the ABS unit completely? Are you sure there's no fluid leak or a stuck caliper piston?

I get a very tiny blip of brake for example I spin the front wheel then have a person push the brake and the brakes will grab for a second then nothing. I can pump the brakes for hours and nothing changes. The abs is totally gone with new brake lines installed. It feels spongy.

 

get a mityvac and pump fluid into the lines ..

 

There is already fluid in the lines when I bleed at each wheel it comes out with no bubbles that's why I can't figure out what's wrong.

 

Did you do any type of brake maintence to the car and this problem started, or did you just loose your brakes?

Abs was removed and all new brake lines were installed. The previous owner put new pads and rotors but this is the first time the car has been running in a while the brake lines have been dry for some time now.

 

I just put a known working master cylinder on rebled each wheel and I still have no brake pressure the pedal is very squishy. Anybody know what's up with it?

 

What happens with the pedal when you try to hold the brakes on?

Pump the pedal until it's firm and hold. If it leaks down and you're not loosing fluid it's the master.

 

That's the these thing I can pump the brakes forever and it never becomes firm i've bled the brakes until all air is out and I get nothing. I replaced the master with a good one and it still does the same thing.

 

i'm getting pretty frustrated now to the point i don't even want the car anymore. i have bleed through another bottle of brake fluid, the MC has been changed. The rear brakes work a little bit but the pedal does not get firm. When i bleed the back brakes a ton of fluid comes out but when i do the fronts only a little bit flows out with no bubbles.

My old MC had 80xxx miles on it and the one i put on it has around 45xxx on it so i'm pretty sure it isn't the MC since it still does the same thing. Could the brake calipers let in so much air for the brakes to not even firm up or should i still have some resistance? My car was sitting for close to two years without any brakes could the rubber be dried out and not creating a seal?

 

Did you set up the master cylinder to push rod clearance as per the FSM?? Sounds like the linkage is not depressing the master cylinder pistons. Or, there are some parts missing or incorrect parts used...

 

I dont know what your bleeding procedure was but did you make sure to start from the wheel furthest away from your master cylinder? i.e. start with your right rear, then left rear, then right front then left front....my apologies if you already did this, i just like to rule out the easy stuff first. anyways keep us updated.

 

Ok there is something i noticed. When i bleed the rear brakes i have my friend push the pedal down then i crack the bleeder and the pedal then goes to the floor. Now when i do the front i have my friend push the pedal and when i crack the bleeder nothing happens and the pedal stays in the same spot. Is this normal or is my replacement BMC dead?
