No boost....

Another one of those threads I guess

Basically, I've had the car off the road for 2.5 years, done the vac job, replaced fuel lines yadda yadda yadda. Car passed its UK test, equiv of smog test in the US so I can drive it on the road again! Woohoo!

Unfortunately I have no boost whatsoever, at idle the car is showing around 0.7 bar of vacuum, when I boot the car the boost gauge moves to 0 bar and does nothing at all. Car starts and idles beautifully.

I can hear the turbos spooling, but it seems like what ever they are doing just isn't get back into the engine

Any quick ideas?

I'm armed with this: http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...aryExplanation

So am about to head outside for a looksie

Thanks

Dave

Yes, there is no real guts to the car at all sadly

As I say, the car starts hot or cold, water and oil remain around 85/90 degrees so in that respect all is well

check every inch of your piping from your turbo's, intercooler, and throttle body.. more than likely you have a good size leak somewhere and it isnt boosting properly..... be sure to squeeze all the rubber hoses and check for splits and stuff like that.

Well this certainly won't be helping.... (must have forgot to clip it when I put the engine back together )

I've replaced it and it blew off again, best pop out and buy a jubilee clip

Fingers crossed that's all of/most of the problem. Thanks so far

Well $1.50 later and its a little better

Getting 0.5 bar of boost now but a little kangarooing and the car doesn't seem to rev past 5k, 2nd turbo came on once so I have another leak somewhere, I'm going to replace the TB and IM gaskets next I think.

Thanks!

haha yeah that's probably the problem...

i'm surprised you couldn't hear that. after i installed my Y pipe i went for a test-drive and had the same bit of piping pop off - it was the loudest noise!

My exhaust a bit raucous and does hide alot of noise.... grrrr.

Still even at 1/2 boost it felt quicker than anything I've driven for a while, can't wait till I cure this

Check your check valves as well this would not let me spool past 4,500rpm.

Small update, the vacuum chamber nipple has a split in it, it looks as though its tried to be sealed with a T-Piece and a nipple blocking the part of the T.

I'll try and order one in the next week to see if it helps......

Any ideas how much of a bitch it is to get to? It doesn't look like fun
