Angry could it have blown?

hey everyone

yesturday i was cruising around and a vette pulled up to me, ( some young kid sporting daddy's car, so i gave him what he had coming to him, a good ol' rotary spankn' ) so we went for a quick lil run, up to 3rd gear i would say from the traffice light. car ran beautiful all the numbers were where it was suppose to be.....great! ( i watch my commander like i hawk ) on the way home, i pushed it alittle and i let the car hit 5k rpm to let the 2nd turbo came in and i heard a big sound. it sounded like my BOV but x10 and nearly no boost.....i paid it no mind, now the next day, just to make sure everything is ok. i went up to where the 2nd turbo comes in and now all i hear is a big SWOOOSH noise and only 5-7 psi of boost.... im not too familiar as to what this means, could i have blown my 2nd turbo? the primary turbo pushes 10psi strong..... could i have cracked that pipe that connects the 2nd turbo to the y-pipe, im not too sure. i havent looked under it yet to check i will today tho. just wanted to see if anyone has any experiance like that in the past. opinions and feedback would be great

thanks in advance everyone

-Tony

does not sound like you have a blown motor. You definatley have a pressure leak in your system somewhere. The reason why your secondary is not kicking in is due to that pressure leak. If the system does not have 5 or more psi I believe, the turbo control actuator will not open (which allows your secondary to begin spooling). I would start by looking at the two 1" hoses that connect to the crv and prv. You will need to manually remove them to inspect for cracks on the underside.

I agree with spoolage. It definitely doesn't sound like a blown motor. It sounds like you have another boost leak. Did you get your 99spec y-pipe installed? It would be very very odd to blow two y-pipes, especially one right after the other.

no i have not yet put in my 99-spec y pipe. i bought the metal cross over from some dude off the forum ( $150 ) 2 days ago and im awaiting for it to get here so i can install them both. in the mean time i patched up the crack for the time being and im 100% sure the motor isnt blown and im pretty sure the 2nd trubo IS kicking in when its suppose to, its just that it makes a huge " SWOOOSH" noise when it does, almost like all the air pressure the 2nd turbo is making is leaking out. idk im not sure yet until i get home and jack the car up and have a look. im just concerned, if the turbo is dead, what signs will it give me to alert me that it is. im almost positive that the pipe that connects the 2nd turbo broke on me. how, i have no clue. but im almost certain thats what happened.... i really cant wait til i switch over to a big single, will make my life so much easier...

thanks for your help btw

Whatever you used to seal the y-pipe (I'll assume it was Quicrete or JB Weld) is probably starting to give. A small crack that expands under full boost enough to release the air and make the whoosh sound. I don't care what those boxes say, that stuff does not set under water, and it does not hold pressure well at all.

In the mean time, I guess you should be shifting before 4k

If you are making 10psi on the primary it is unlikely to be the hose on the Y pipe and problem is likely between the secondary turbo control valve and the secondary turbo,eg broken flange, broken flange studs etc

dont luagh but i used that "mighty putty" **** off TV and i gotta say, its been working for the time being hahahaha i know i know no good. but as soon as i get that 99-spec cross over pipe that disaster will be gone....

when i go under the car i'll take pics for u guys so you can see what im facing up against now should be interesting. but i agree....the problem is def. in between the 2nd turbo and the y-pipe butterfly
