Need your opinion

So I have been trying to sell my seven for awhile and have had many interested people but none want to buy it. I am in love with the car especially since I have installed all the mods and the car is running the best it ever has. I have a 1994 Black R2 with 77K miles with good compression on the engine. So I am wondering what you guys think I should do, I have $18K put into it and was wondering if I should cut my losses and continue to sell it or should I keep it and continue fixing the small problems. Here are my mods and issues:
Mods---
downpipe with new O2 sensor
high flow cat
racing beat exhaust
Apexi ECU with commander
boost and water temp gauges
petit CAI
fluidyne radiator with new hoses
Issues---
5th gear syncro
am/fm radio is unplugged
speakers are crappy and so is the laser in for the CD player
Here are my future plan if I keep the car:---
99spec front bumper and headlights
tint windows
rims
new clutch
remove the air pump

So what do you guys think I shoudl do?

Are those few little issues bugging you to the point that you want to sell the car? Or is there another reason you're selling?

well for one, you should advertise it as having a PFC w/ Commander, not an "APEX`i ECU w/ Commander", simply because it's more familiar to RX-7 and other performance car enthusiasts.

As well, it's very simple to reattach the antenna to the head unit, it's just a very large headphone jack looking piece. also, try getting a cheap $5 walmart cd lense cleaner, run that through the CD player and see if that doesn't cure up your laser issues. The less ammount of issues you have to list, the better. 5th gear syncro..it's more costly than the other two, but you should probably fix that, too.

out of curiousity, how much are you asking?

Agreed. I really don't think that the 5th gear is a big problem...I mean, how often do you go into 5th gear? If it bothers you alot, you're probably better off buying another trans, most likely cheaper than getting it rebuilt. I bought a JDM trans for $550 shipped, or was it $600? Anyway, don't have to worry about grinding in 5th anymore.
If I did'nt have an FD and was looking to buy one, I would be happy to get one in the condition yours is in. I can take care of those problems in one day

Well I original purpose to sell it was that I was unaware at how much money I would be spending in the future. And since I am in college and I have paid for everything myself, my bank account is on the low end right now. So I decided if I can get a good job soon, I will keep the car. If I keep it, what mods should I go for next?

Oh, and I am selling it for $18k.

make sure all of your maintanence is done and taken care. You might also want to think to yourself what your long term goal is for the car. Im going to build mine toward handling and response unlike some people that prefer strait line racing platforms. If you have another car that you use toward daily driving then keep the 7!

Those issues are minor and you probably won't be able to sell it for what you put into it. People are very cheap when it comes to buying a car while others don't recognize value. Selling an FD is a frustrating thing. I was in a similar position earlier this year but after dealing with a bunch of morons I decided I'd keep it.

Since you are not in debt with the car you can always just park it at your family's house till you graduate college if you get into a money situation. I would not recommend spending more money in mods till after you graduate.

well I decided to keep it only if I get a job so I can continue modding it/making it look nicer. So now my question is, what should my next step be? I know I have to get it checked out inside and out (suspension, clutch, flywheel, etc) but what else?

So let me get this straight - your finances are such that you have to sell it unless you get a good job, in which case you're going to start spending even MORE money by modding it? If you keep it, I say spend the money to fix it but no more.

IMNSHO, owning an FD at college or recently-graduated age is a dicey idea. This is a time where most FD owners tend to live paycheck-to-paycheck for their cars, when in reality you need to have extra cash on hand to start saving for retirement, buy a first house, to ride out a job layoff (remember, first in, first out the door!), pay for a engagement ring/wedding/honeymoon/kid/medical expenses/divorce, etc.

In other words, what can fit in your budget today can easily break your back tomorrow. If the FD puts any strain on your budget at all, it's going to greatly compromise your quality of life everywhere else.

Back to the subject proper, I say that you should get a price on 5th synchro. I'm guessing it's about $500 if the shop has done it before.

If this is the original engine, compression is not the whole story - at 77k the majority of original engines are ready to give up a coolant seal. So really I think an informed buyer would pay $18k for that car in excellent condition minus $5k for the risk of the engine going and fixing the other stuff. You can ask $18k, but do not expect an informed buyer to pay that. However, with prices all over the place and a persistent cloud of uniformed buyers you never know.
