Maybe you should enlighten us. You're the one who disabled all of your safety equipment and then turned someone loose in your car...

No horn.
No ABS.
No SRS.

Am I missing anything?

First time I've ever heard of good brakes being a liability. You're right; bad brakes would have been much more useful in this situation. Even locked tires will slow a car down much faster than no brakes at all.

The median the car went through was grass? There's not a speck of mud or grass anywhere. The car went through a grass median at high speed and didn't get any grass stuck in the spoiler or undercarriage? Did it get washed afterwards?

I'm completely full of crap because I'm just looking at some pics but it just doesn't all seem to add up.

oh, and the probability of you people seeing pics of me are slim to none, considering you'd probably pick it apart the way you've done everything else. I think I've been criticized enough in this thread.
I'm with you -- on both parts -- that what's done is done, and that people will pick your pic apart....

I've seen a common thread in this forum (no pun intended) where if ever an RX-7 gets totalled/damaged, that there are people on this forum that care more about the car than the people involved so much so that they'll find some way to make the driver into the worst person who could have ever lived. Even if the person says the problem WASN'T his/her fault, some people in this crowd will insist it was. I seems that pretty much any person with an RX-7 or drives an RX-7 that wrecks it is a dumb-***, no matter what the situation was.

Glad to see you're OK... and I'm glad to see the your boyfriend is level headed enough to realize that the value of your life is much higher than that of a car....

-----------------------

Now, all that said, I personally don't let other people drive my car (my wife has driven it once, and 1 driving instructor at a DE I went to).... but if my wife was in your position, I would be happy she was alive. If it was in fact her fault, I would just tell her I hope she learned something, doesn't do it again, and then supports me in getting the next car!

I also don't drive other people's cars because I don't want to be the one that ruins their car should something happen... I do drive my wife's car, which is the daily driver... but I follow the same rule... if it was my fault, I'll learn from it... and whatever happened to the car, I'd make it up to her (whether to fix it, or to replace it with something else)...

here, let me do some photoshopping to make everything fit your godly views on everything. yes, the median was grass. why there wasn't anything on the car, i have no idea. there are definately 2 nice marks in the median crossing over. but i forgot, you should know this, since you know everything. do i have to crawl under the car to get pics of a few strands of grass to please you, almighty? please, go analyze other crap, as you obviously haven't a clue about accidents

I'll make no further comments in this thread then, but I would like to hear your point of view on good brakes being unsafe in high speed situations; ABS or not.

Question

The story of how this accident went down has more holes than Swiss cheese.
The wheels (inside and out), the tires and the body are clean of any dirt, grass or mud.
It really makes you go HUMMMM???!!!!

Don't worry, this isn't a sorority rush/hazing ritual where you'll cry to your hearts delight.

You can still post a pictures, a tiny weenie picture.

Wow, Jimlab just jumped and bit down on Fritz and spoolin93r1 like a angry pit bull.

This one's going to be hard to pull off, even with the body removed from the head.

have you ever tried to control a vehicle with the front wheels locked? granted it's better than no control, but it's far from being safe. my brakes instantly lock with the slightest bit too much brake pressure. there's no warning. after the first initial grab, they have a little bit more ease of control. in this situation, seeing as how she was going around a curve, i would say locking of the front brakes would have caused more harm than good. however, nice try

Did you teach her to drive your car? Because now I feel bad. It wasn't her fault if she was taught that it was unsafe to use the brakes on your car when driving around curves.

i thought you were done? if you're going to make cracks on my driving ability, explain why i was able to put down better auto-x times in my car with shitty street tires than a veteran in a 996 with a full set of hoosiers, consistently. obviously someone's unhappy in their life and feels the need to make others feel bad, but you're not going to. as far as i'm concerned, you're just a goon with a keyboard. and i'm sure you feel the same. further this all you want, but arguing over the internet is worthless. i explained my want to start the thread. if you don't like it, so be it. have at it buddy

FD ABS saved my *** one time....I was flying down an off-ramp at about 100 (running from the cops...not thinking too clearly)....I overcooked the stop sign but managed to regain control thanks to the ABS and evade the po-po

without ABS I would have been in the trees, with a reckless driving ticket to boot

Feelings hurt LOL

I don't feel things about you because I don't know you. Based upon your post I think your the forum clown. You entertain me. So now use that huge intelligence that you were bestowed with and tell me how stupid I am and how smart you are. I'm sure you'll think of something a clever school boy would spew.

These folks seem like good peeps to me. Why waste your time making others feel bad that are already feeling bad enough. Show some common decency and go **** on somebody elses thread that deserves it. Go visit some of GivemeRX7s post in the 3rd gen for sale section. He should be right on your level for some great fun.

Regarding Damon: I have respect for him and only read the post relating to the crash analysis which was sort of interesting but inconclusive. However I've been around enough car accidents to know that it's always strange how fast something can go wrong and how little control we really have of what can happen and how absolutely strange the results can be. For instance the whole guard rail thing. Under hard braking a car can slide under and earthworm HE HE.

how many of the people here that are criticizing the situation have actually been in a situation where you had to suddenly react to something unexpected (I know I don't EXPECT or LOOK FOR someone in the lane next to me to suddenly turn into my lane) and do accident avoidance?

Everyone always says "I would do this and that" but how do you REALLY know how you'd react without having actually been in the situation? Under all the stress, you may not do what you say you'd do since you don't have that kind of time to really think about it.

If you were out there with your ridiculously beautiful car that you love wantonly, and someone swerved at you, would you REALLY say "I'll bang into you instead and not try to get out of the way" or would your instinct be to try to avoid an accident and avoid hurting your beloved car?

panic is always the worst thing that can happen to a driver....typically results in the opposite of what you should be doing....I attribute this accident to panic reaction

Wow, I do feel sorry for you Spoolin' and Spoolingirl between totaled FD, ruptured spleen and the vultures and pitbulls on here the sympathy from the early posts quickly have worn off. Yeah, it seems like the story doesnt fit, but really it doesnt need to. FD's are a handful to drive and must constantly pay attention to as much on the road as possible. As cars go its almost like riding a sportbike. I always drive in the fastlane unless its thick traffic, usually the old disabled people dont go there, ditto for big rigs.
I say the story doesnt need to fit because the woman had a near-death experience. A lot of us wouldnt let our g/f's drive our FD's, letalone one w/o ABS or an airbag, let alone one that looked like a trailer queen like Spoolin's.
As far as this forum goes, those who read it enough know what to expect when they start a thread, good and bad. Props to you Spoolin for the one car on here I look at as a goal and props to jimlab for cold hard sarcasm rather than dimwitted cusswords.

Right, which is why you didn't get bent out of shape that I didn't agree with you on the weight of the turbos. You even brought your wife into the argument, but you didn't really feel strongly about it because you don't know me. I see...

Based upon your post I think your the forum clown. You entertain me. So now use that huge intelligence that you were bestowed with and tell me how stupid I am and how smart you are. I'm sure you'll think of something a clever school boy would spew.
Sorry Fritz, forum rules prevent me from telling you what I really think of you.

These folks seem like good peeps to me. Why waste your time making others feel bad that are already feeling bad enough. Show some common decency and go **** on somebody elses thread that deserves it.
What I see are "peeps" here to get sympathy and attention and several posts which indicate that the safety of the car was compromised, which leads me to believe that guilt is a large part of why the responses have been so heated... yet I have not once insulted spoolin or his girlfriend directly in any shape or form.

Maybe you should go find someone else to harass yourself, and shove your misguided noble intentions up your *** while you're at it.

funny how I get cursed to hell for "bashing women" when I was making a GENERAL statement about how women and performance cars don't mix, and this guy has the gall to make this statement....sheesh
