my newly totalled FD

here's the pics i promised. doesn't look like any of the body will be salvagable. depending on how the insurance company handles it, i may just get another FD and swap the parts over. i'm definately buying it back regardless, but i won't now until next week whether i'll be parting it out or going FD shopping again

AHHHHH!!!!!! I hate to see that man. Glad I got to see it in person at least once. I might take some stuff off your hands if you decide to part it. Or maybe I have some misc parts you might need to get another one going.

:(

blownapexseal7 11-18-04 12:23 PM

sorry to hear about that but do you think you would have fared better if you had an airbag? I'm debating about putting in an aftermarket steering wheel and (unfortunately) you're the perfect candidate to tell us whether or not it's a good idea.

RX 4 Speed 11-18-04 12:23 PM

dude... that sucks :( I remember seeing your car as it was in the last pic :( What happened? My condolences on the FD man... at least you're alright, right? I do remember you had a thread once about selling your FD...

adam c 11-18-04 12:24 PM

Dibs on the drivers side headlight cover :)

That looks awful. Sorry to see an FD in that condition.

02Sidewinder 11-18-04 12:26 PM

So sorry to see what happened to your FD.
That was one of the best looking FD's I've seen.
At least you are O.K. You can always build another one.

a2zpcwiz 11-18-04 12:26 PM

I feel your pain - At least your girfriend is ok. It could have been worse - I totaled my Z06 1 year ago doing 120 and just opened the door and walked out. Good luck on your next car.

Brian_93 11-18-04 12:28 PM

Damn , One FD less on the roads, and yours was badass. sorry for the loss

RedR1 11-18-04 12:28 PM

Damn man, sorry to see that. What the hell happened?? You had the of the, if not the cleanest FD's i've seen in a while!

the_glass_man 11-18-04 12:32 PM

JESUS CHRIST that car was beautiful. Man what a tragedy. :(

spoolin93r1 11-18-04 12:35 PM

my girlfriend was the one driving. she was forced into a guardrail at around 65-70mph, crossed 2 lanes of traffic, through a median, across another 2 lanes, then almost head on into the opposite guardrail. i don't know how she managed to not hit another car. she had a ruptured spleen and had to have it removed. she's lucky that's all that happened. as far as the airbag, i don't see how it could have helped any in this situation, if anything, it would hurt her more than helping. i'm still in total awe that she survived with just a ruptured spleen

RedR1 11-18-04 12:39 PM

At least she is alive. Cars are always replaceable, a life is not. I would definately take whomever forced her into the railing into a major lawsuit (if they did not hit-n-run), for medical and property damages, amongst other things. At least the airbag did not do serious damage as they usually do in severe wrecks.

I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before I am envying the cleanliness your new car-

TwinTurbo93 11-18-04 12:41 PM

Holy shit duude, did you get hurt?, I hope not!
My condolences for your loss, I hope you get some money back from you ins. comp. so you can get back on the road with another FD b/c this one doesn't look like a easy fix

What did you hit, where you going fast? I feel for you bro. I been there, I had my 300 ZX totalled from a similar accident

apex_sideway 11-18-04 12:41 PM

Wow man, i'm glad your girlfriend is okay . . . . screw the car; if you had full coverage you can get a new one and if not you have your girlfriend. Good luck man.

spoolin93r1 11-18-04 12:43 PM

well, the person that forced her over was an elderly handicapped lady that probably had no idea what she did. the wasn't any contact made with the other car as my g/f didn't want to hurt the car, but there just wan't enough room to make it safely onto the side of the road. there weren't any witnesses close enough to clearly make out the other car. all we have is a description and there isn't a chance in hell of finding the person. kinda sucks, but life goes on. i'm just thrilled that she's still with me. i'll hopefully be building another FD soon. may take some time to get it as nice, but i'm gonna try for it

adam c 11-18-04 12:43 PM

Glad to hear the your girlfriend is going to be OK. I hope the person that caused this is held responsible.

Skeltah 11-18-04 12:43 PM

Sorry for your loss man...
Is the drivers side weather stripping still intact? I'm also looking for the rubber weather stripping between the outside door handle and the window. Tell me what you are going to have available...

gosh damn son

What happened??? Sorry to see that.

XSTransAm 11-18-04 12:56 PM

damn man that really sucks, im sorry that happened to you. and look the vultures are already at pray.

glad to hear that you and your gf are ok. that looks like it was a pretty bad accident. In the end its just a car though.

jermelle 11-18-04 12:59 PM

glad to see your girl is o.k.

WHIPSrx7 11-18-04 01:05 PM

It's too bad it never made it to the Revo in 2004...I wish I could have seen it. I was really looking forward to it. I'm most definitely glad your girlfriend is okay. I hate to see any car totalled, it's just a waste of metal. Tell your girlfriend I said screw the old people next time (LOL j/k). Keep us updated on whether or not your are getting a new FD or not and also how the insurance company is handling all of this. I can't imagine how you must have felt to hear about your girlfriend and your car...Good luck with all the decisions you're going to have to make!

Fd3BOOST 11-18-04 01:10 PM

Bummer man.

Scrapiron7 11-18-04 01:14 PM

Wow, that's worse than I had pictured it to be. I'm glad she's OK though, that's what is important. Best of luck.

turbojeff 11-18-04 01:16 PM

OUCH. Man you guys are lucky no one was seriously hurt.

I don't know how the airbag would hurt you more though. Airbags are made for accidents like this, when they go off in small impacts they end up doing more harm than good.

Looks totalled to me btw.

Vader 11-18-04 01:18 PM

Jesus. Those pics are hard to look at. That car was truly gorgeous. I can see a lot of work went into it. Sorry.
Thank god your girlfriend is alright.
