Question Mounting 24x12x3 Intercooler

I am sorry if this is a repost, I did a search and I looked through the first few pages with no luck. Anyway, I just wanted to know if I need to do any work in order to get the new intercooler to fit in the FD, if so what do I need to do? I figure I'm going to need new piping to the airbox and airflow sensor. Does anyone know where I could get piping that would fit this size intercooler? I attached a picture of the intercooler for reference. Thanks in advance.

I don't have the energy....why would you buy just a raw intercooler instead of a kit when you don't have a clue of what's necessary to install it?

You will need to mount that behind the front bumper -- you will need to make your own mounting brackets, fab up all of the piping, get a Greddy AIrinx, HKS RS, or similar intake to make room, smaller or relocated battery....etc.

Stock piping is 2.75 inch.....you can get metal piping from several sources including Burns stainless and www.atpturbo.com

FDs don't have airflow sensors, they have pressure (MAP) sensors......

Thanks for your info. The main reason for choosing to fabricate parts for the intercooler versus purchasing a kit is because of the cost difference. The only problem that I currently face is making space for the intercooler. A friend of mine who works at a bodyshop is going to help me create the piping I need so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

its just not that simple man. . . theres cutting involved, mocking up the pipes to where they dont look like CRAP. i mean. . . the reason to do it yourself is to do it better. . . not necessarily cut price. i THOUGHT i was cutting the price on mine, but in actuality i ended up spending about the same. i, personally, LIKE my setup a lot more than others, but that doesnt mean it was the most efficient way to do it.

just be careful of how you start doing this. . . you can ruin a decent install before it begins. . . example: buying the endtanks before actually mapping out the piping route

thats why i made my own endtanks. . . freedom of decision. . . and the fact that BENDS COST MONEY. straight sections are cheaper. so, since the accepted method of mathematics states that 2+2 obviously equals 4. . . i kept things as cheap as possible by buying as few bends as possible. make sense?

also, figure out your welding situation as well. . . this is where it gets REALLY expensive. im willing to bet you werent adding that into the equation. . . well, i guess that makes sense, since your endtanks are already welded on. . . bah. . . the pipes will still need welding. . . now im ranting. . . SEE WHAT YOU DID!!!!!

I know with my FMIC that i had to relocate the radiator. My battary had already been relocated so that wasn't a problem. Good luck.

also you may need to move/modify power sterring cooler also along with the radiator and A/C condencer. While you are at it change your radiator and AST if you have done that yet.

i bought my aluminum 3" u-bends from some company but my order got messsed up and took about a month and two weeks and when they came in they had a few wrinkles and deep scratches, i also found another company http://www.roadraceengineering.com/mandrelbends.htm that has 3" aluminum u-bends for $35.00 i still need to order 2 more u-bends so i will try this new place if anyone gets some aluminum u-bends from this place before me please post their condition

IMHO, Nothing, but I'm not the author of this thread and he made reference to it so you are asking the wrong person.

did you check the thread i linked to earlier? the entire front bumper assembly is off. . . take yours off and figure it out. . . oh, and good luck with that. . . i didnt choose that setup BECAUSE of the sucky inlet/outlet direction
