my 6 puck clutch is not an act, it is a daiken or something like that and is unsprung so it is very chattery sometimes when engaging, the clutch itself is fine, just not for the street, and since that it what I primarily use it for it gets a little old, but hey my girlfriends have always really hated it and thus have never wanted to drive it after pushing it down a couple times...so maybe I don't regret it as much as I thought.

I actually love them too. Although I'm biased and never used ACT, however I've thrashed a centerforce and one that was supposed to be (10% over stock, never do that again). Had one in my last FD, this one will get one at clutch replacment time too, no if's, and's, or but's.. I was originally introduced to them through BNR Supercars out of Alabama, and ended up loving the clutch. I only had the stage 2, but still loved it and was supposed to hold something like 400 rwhp. I will probably get stage 3 when I do my next clutch job. Sorry to turn this into a "clutch thread".

In my opinion, the only negative to a 6-puck is reverse and first gear. In stop and go it can become brutal..

Some of the mods I have regrets about are actually blessings in disguise. For instance, the race seats and clutch diminish my desire to drive the car all of the time. While this may sound bad on the surface, it's actually not that bad because I exercise a bit more discretion as to when I should be driving the car and should not be - plus it saves miles.

I thought this thread is about regret.
I regret having chosen the ACT 6puck while everyone around has told me not to. I was given choice of street/strip and 6 puck, I said 6 puck.
There..I regret it, waste money, time, and almost got stranded.

To be specific, I am blaming ACT 6 puck, not ACT. I still use my ACT Extreme Pressure Plate with used stock clutch. Fine until now. No regret on that one.

Okay, understood..

I'd get a full face clutch next time if you're going to kick the clutch though!

My earlier experience on clutches (for a highly modded DOHC Neon) was that the Centerforces are overrated and are worse than stock, and that the SPECS are worth every penny. Not sure if Clutchmasters makes clutches for FD's but soemone should get ont hem to make them if they don't already, VERY high quality.

I had a friend who had a turbo timer in his FD. The trouble was that he was in fact in a hurry one day to get to work. When he got to his office building he quickly got out of his FD and ran into his building. His FD was running as he went into the building, which is typical for a turbo timer. The funny part was that he actually left the car running with the keys in the switch. The best part was that he locked the door with the keys in the switch. It wasn't until his lunch break that he realised that his car was still running. I'm not sure how he got back into his car, but I couldn't help but die laughing at him. Once again I had to ask him. Why in the world do you have a turbo timer?

I know that didn't contribute much, but I thought it was a humorous example of what can happen with a turbo timer.

Lowering my car with RP's super down springs on 6 or 7 year old stock touring shocks.

The car looked great but I scraped everything in sight.

I broke my sway bar mounts and bent my stock sway bar. My insurance said it was from the car being lowered. Possible.

Then when I got coilovers my stock sway bar mounts that were new from mazda maybe a year or so before were completely bent up again.

Never lower your car that low with stock shocks. Bad bad bad.

Sadly I have done this at least 3 times over the last 5 years with my FD. It's funny when you come out of a grocery store and walk up on your car and hear the stereo blasting. lol

Luckily the solution gentlemen is to keep an extra key in your wallet. So I have never been locked out. I just look like a fool laughing as I walk to my car thats jamming to some Phil Collins or Enya.

1) A/C change over from auto control to manual control. Now I'm awaiting some free time to change the entire harness for the entire car (excluding engine harness). Should have stuck with the auto A/C but thought it might be more reliable going the manual control path.

2) 3-puck Mazdaspeed racing clutch with cr-moly flywheel. It pisses me off when the entire car shudders. Just yesterday I found an exhaust leak at the downpipe join which I'm guessing is from the shuddering rear differential flopping zie exhaust around like a rag doll.

3) Installing a remote start (Directed Electronics) which only seems to work sometimes but according to some pessimists it's not good for the starter system. Now I've got a phobia IF I get the sucker to work on a lucky day.

Did you crack the TB? I wondered if the ETB would eventually crack the UIM/LIM/TB under hard use...?

I don't really regret any mods, but when I drive a stockish FD (I've owned 17 FDs) I say to myself WOW this is quiet, smooth, comfy...

The wife just tells me I've screwed up my car.

My car is an auto-x monster, but ~2 deg negative camber, 0 toe semi stiff springs and shocks have made tracking down the road "interesting" if the road has any grooves.

Otherwise keeping the main cat and airpump cost me some HP but keeps the car from stinking up the air, eliminates boost, noise and idle issues.

Only regret here is buying a used Profec B from some guy in Japan. It had problems and I ended up having to get a new one.

Oh, that and I think Ive over modded my car. (if thats possible)
it ran fine a 300rwhp.
Now its faster, louder, stinkier, and the engine gave.
