micey mouse ears

i think i am going to use the border gauge pods from the rx7 store. are these copies? i also want to know what the mounting is like. is it real simple. do i have to drill anything? the pillar mounts just dont look that well on a car that is this beautiful. nothing against them, but they look better on a honda, not a 7. the mickey mouse ears look stock. about the fiber glass one, is it very similar to the stock color of the rx7 dash. fill me in on these pods. they also make 60mm pods right, i want defi gauges.

yeah they are copies and you have to drill a nice big hole to feed the wires thru

I've been told by chris @ RP that they tried to install the jp spec ones and they ended up not fitting for some odd reason... probably the pass. side driver issue... I think they are pretty functional when it comes to having a boosty gauge and a say A/F or Temp gauge up there... Its easier to see that that the A-piller mount.

i agree that they are probably easier to see. i think that they look a whole lot better. i just dont want to tear up my gauge cluster thingie(grear explanation) installing this. is it just a clip on and holes have to be made for just the wires?

I'm not sure about the install. But I think in the looks department its second to none. It what I plan on getting. ry mailing Jason at the store, probally knows all about it. I know you can get either 52mm or 60mm pods. Just say which when you order.

Hey, found a preety good pic. Looks like you will have to glue it down, because I see no clamps or hooks on it. Here's the pic:

IMO they are a BETTER upgrade than an a pillar pod. After all, they DO put the guuges right in front of you.

Unfortunetly, it DOES require that you drill that hole, but if this is a permanent mount, it really shouldnt matter...

im 100% sure that i will be going with the mickey mouse look now. thanks for the one pic that made me a beleiver. i thought it was just a clip on or screw on style to the existing cluster pad. now i know that it is a whole new one. one last question though, DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE FIBERGLASS BORDER POD IS VERY CLOSE TO THE SAME COLOR AS THE BLACK DASH?

are these pods the real deal here. is that pic above the exact same thing that i would expect when ordering from jason at the rx7 store??? im hoping that its not just a flimsy fiberglass piece that sticks on top of the cauge gauge cluster cover. let me know. anyone else have pics? i dont want to resort to the A pillar and think that the ears look damn sick. anyone have pics of these in their cars and how hard it was to install.
