Jesus.......SO RICH

I replaced the 02 sensor today thinking I would have some luck with the car idling rich, and boy was I wrong. I'm currently only getting a knock sensor code, but the damn thing is puffing black smoke at idle. I used almost half a tank of gas today driving around troubleshooting...and not even going over like 40mph. Is it possible I have a fuel line switched or something retarded like that?

really no info given to work with

are you on the stock ecu? that code may be enough to trigger the ecu to dump fuel
other things could be stuck open primary injector

not sure what the effects of switching the return/vapor lines would be but thats the only lines you could have switchd or it wouldnt start

Yes

This is a stock ecu. I figured that it would dump fuel, I have asked on this forum, and nopisons and everyone seems to think it woudltn dump that much fuel. Any advice on how to figure out whether or not I've got a stuck open fuel injector?

Fix the knock sensor first as that puts the car into limp mode.

Does limp mode inherit auto tranny issues too? Like not being able to go into 4gr/OD?

Like a dumbass, the first time I went through emissions my check engine light was on. I failed bad at idle. It was running super rich because it was in limp mode. Get a new knock sensor before anything.

One step at a time. Fix the knock sensor, then check to see what else is happening.

This afternoon im going to test the knock sensor per service manual. I found a guy locally thats willing to let me borrow one if I need to. It probably was a good idea changing the o2 sensor out however. After I pulled it out, it was literally attached to the wiring by like 2 strands.

I do have another question. I've noticed the check engine light stays on all the time, but when I turn the steering wheel, it will blink randomly. I got under the car and looked on top as well, to see if I could see any wires rubbing the steering column, but theres nothing even touching the steering column. Very odd
