Intake hoses

I think my car hates me. I spent a night and two days removing my intake hoses, removing all the bolts, taking the pre-cat out, and installing the new 3" downpipe. Right after all the bolts were tightened, and I was about to put the intake hoses back on, I realized that a hose that had refused to come off the entire time and had been in my way, had just decided to split and come off. So, now I need to know where I can find this new hose. Anyone who has installed a dp probably knows which one I'm talking about, its the lowest of the four, the one that comes from the engine assembly. Its right in the friggin' way when you try to ratchet the upper pre-cat to turbo bolts too. I don't care what the cost is, I'd just like to hear my car's new voice within the next few days :-) Thanks!

Put a post in the 3rd gen parts section. You should be able to find one there. Any Mazda dealer can get one for you too.

here's where the hose attaches to the airbox, there's a unit that says 'Denso" on it and then an arrow pointing into the airbox.

There's nothing special about that hose. Go to an auto parts store and find a heater hose the same diameter with a 90 degree bend in it. Buy one that's too long and cut it to fit. No biggie.

The hose is for the stock BOV - Mazda calls it the CBV (Compressor Bypass Valve). You can do like Damon said and fab one from a heater hose, or buy the new Mazda part. Call Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda (1-888-533-3400) and tell him what you want - he can look it up and take care of you quickly.

You can drive the car with the hose rigged on there, but you'll get a substantial boost leak and a loss of power.

Good luck!
Dale

Thanks a ton everyone, you've been very helpful. My local Mazda dealer parts dept. doesn't open till monday. How long do you think it'll take to order the part? I miss my FD already :-( Thanks again.

^Call Ray Crowe at Malloy and ask him if he'll overnight it for you...probably cost you couple of extra bucks is all. Otherwise, it's free shipping. You could get lucky, but the local dealer is not likely to have it in stock.
