Another vote for the C6 zo6. That yeller' car is just beautiful.

But the new Viper Coupe is no slouch either but at 85K it's just not in the cards.

personally, i think R32 GTRs are amazing cars, but not driver friendly AT ALL.
if you want a 'Godzilla' (GTR Skyline) you can't go any earlier than R33.

Evo's in the US (as i understand it) started at the evo 8... that car is a detuned version of what we have here in NZ which isn't even really that impressive.

personally, i'd take an S2000, Elise or TT6spdSupra.

C6 Z06, or maybe the new supercharged mustang, or wait for the new RX7 to come out.

Replacement

Having done just what you are talking about, I found this discussion interesting. I wound up with a G35 coupe. I really like the car also. Is it as fast as my FD? Obviously not. However, I just love the torque it makes and a stock G coupe is pretty close acceleration performance wise to a STOCK FD. It's not as tossable, but on the other hand the roads don't beat both me and the car to death. My FD was an R-1 BTW. It gets good milage, I don't cringe everytime I floor it, dreading the Bang that the 13B-REW is known to give once the milage is up there. Back seats have come in handy several times and one thing the G's are at least equal to an FD is in braking ability. All in all, I don't hate the fact that I changed cars. Once in a while I want the FD's scorching acceleration and the aftermarket is getting there with the VQ motor in the G/350 family, patience will be rewarded with a 12.0 or faster car. People are getting close and finding what it takes to make power and keep the VQ alive. I also think it's a pretty good looking car. It definately does not look like azz.
Just one option.

i wouldn't trade/sell my fd but if i had to choose,

below or = to the 30K range,

Mazdaspeed RX8
Mazdaspeed Protege
IF i HAD TO a M Coupe.

the M Coupe is currently the fastest car bmw has ever made. IF you can find the M coupe with the E46 M3 Motor. which is pretty rare. came 333hp and weighs less than an M3. but there's so many probs with M3's and bmw's in general is sadness. i work for a BMW dealership and ick... with all the recalls and problems i see.. dude i wonder how they stay in business... and their prices only go up with each new model... e90's are STARTing like 36+ for a 325. and btw IDRIVE SUCKS!

i had a anniversary edition z06 come in here and it was just sad... just a "performance loved car" and had a fake cowl, misaligned interior, and was 30K miels and rattled everywhere. interior is as cheap or cheaper then a 93 FD... and they're pretty damn expensive for what i saw in that thing... but that's JMO.

my choices would be but not really on order:
1) 05-06 Legacy GT (same potential as the STi but more confy and cheaperand it is 2 lbs heavier than the STi)
2) 2001 Audi S4( $6K would put you at a low 12 sec car)
3) VW R32
4) RX-8
5) 88-91 or 01+ M3
6) M coupe w/ 01+ M3 motor
7) MR2 Turbo
8) Supra TT 6 spd
9) 95-96 240sx with RB26DETT swap

That's awesome. I'd love one of those. Just need to hit the lottery and I'm on it.
