Well realisticly since im 17 if i sold my FD i would get an s2000 or a modded WRX......Now if i had money and was older i would buy a viper. Wouldnt even think twice. I would go to a dealership and buy the nicest one i found. Preferably a 2002 Titanium RT/10....that would tide me over

Who wouldn't want a twin turbo Z06 with 600 whp?? I know its out of your price range but one could still dream First time I saw the m coupe when it came out it was one of my future "to get" cars. Love the uniqueness (sp?) and the power behind it.

A 1992 C2 Turbo 911 you could find one for under 30k if you look hard. The only thing is your not really making much headway. Service on a air cooled turbo porsche would not be friendly.

All things aside on your list, i would take the M coupe.

I'm a newbie. Sorry.
Got any info on the new RX-7?

Anyway - I'd pick the Vette out of the list. My list would have a Viper at the top.

Definitely a Lotus Elise. Came real close to actually doing it, kinda regret not. It is nice not having a car payment though. Tough to get in and out of, and with my friend in it, it was difficult to get to 5th and 6th gear, but I still may end up doing it .

Before I purchased my newest RX-7, my 2nd gen is dead, I looked at a 2002 911 turbo, the Lotus Elise, and into possibly importing a R33 or an R34 non-GTR model (RWD not AWD).

I really liked the 911 turbo but I did not want a 2nd AWD car (I have a Subaru and find it really boring. But it is the fastest race bike hauler I know of). I also didnt like the insurance for the 911. I thought about the Lotus for a long while. The dealer wanted $10,000.00 over retail so I decided that if I was going to get one I was just going to have to wait. They are really fun to drive btw.

I wanted to test drive a new Vette but the douche at the dealer wouldn't let me. He said that they had a no test drive policy. I even showed up in a 2004 Hummer just to make sure he knew I could afford the thing and he still said NO. His loss, I probably would have gotten it.

The Skyline thing is just a pipe dream since they would be near impossible to insure and getting parts would be a major hassle.

I decided on the RX-7 becuase I knew I could make it have 400-500whp for a reasonable price and it is light(mine makes 497.7whp btw). It would be easy to get it to run 11s, pull over 1 lateral G, and go over 170mph. (those were my minimums for buying a sports car). In a land speed race my RX-7 has yet to go over 167mph, but that wasnt a horse power issue but a saftey equipment compliance issue.

After some lengthy thought I decided that getting a "status symbol" car was lame and that I didn't want to have to start dressing like Magnum PI sporting gold chains and too much old spice.

My other car is a highly modified WRX. It ran an 11.98 1/4 mile on street tires.

I am actually really tired of my WRX and deciding what I want out of a daily driver. I purchased it before the STI came out and had it modified to be a vastly superior car to the STI. I can tell you from exsperiance that they are boring (other than in the dirt and or snow, where they are really lots of fun). My WRX is almost back to stock now and ready to be sold. I don't think I will ever get a AWD car again. I am thinking more along the lines of a F250 or a Titan for the daily driver now.

Mine's R-34 v spec II Skyline. If there was avere a car with really bad *** super response it woudl definitely have to be that thing.

As for the 06 RX-7s. How do you know they are not developing it in super secrecy? The Spirit R Type A went out on top of its class. It was quite possibly the most impressive sports car to grace japanese roads back then. I think if they were to come out with something to start riveling the New EVO standards. I'm sure it would be quick to surpass the EVOs and all other japanese sports cars out there once again. I wouldn't give up hope of it just yet. If they go the same route as the spirit R from the get go and simply improve that for newer versions. Man I am sure that would be one beastly car pushing 300-340 hp straight form the factory. Especially when they need to compete with New rides like the EVO 8 MR and STis. I'm very sure they they won't let Nissan's new supposed GT-R coming out much later go to the streets without a fight. I still belive in Mazda's sports legacy. And I really dont think they will let it go soo easily.

I sat in a Noble at the Monterey historics and I wasn't impressed. It was cheap and no reinforcement in the doors.
Easily the new C6 Z06.

Developing in secret? Highly unlikely. Mazda has spent the last few years trying to improve the reliability of their cars. Think RX-8. It does not have forced induction for a reason.
Major auto manufacturers often let a legacy die for no reason other than being a "business decision". Why would Mazda even try? The SVT Lightning truck produced by Ford is being cut for this exact reason. Unlike the RX-7s output, the trucks production numbers were very consistant; at least 5,000 units per year as opposed to the FDs steady decline of almost 10,000 in 1993 to 3,400 in 1994 and finally to 500 in 1995.

One last thing. I think too many people suck EVO dork. The car is impressive to say the least but try getting it fixed at a dealer if you have raced it....even if it is stock.

I think it looks like a giant grocery cart with that spoiler on the back.

I'd sell my '93 silver FD for a '94 white one.

I've owned an E36 M3 and a supra. Both were nice cars but I prefered the Supra actually. Handling of the FD is very good and I actually kind of enjoy working on it. The other two I never had problems with but never modded them either.

So I'd get a Supra for cost reasons. If not I'd look hard at 911s or maybe a lotus. I know vettes are good cars but I still associate the old man stigma to them.

Because an '06 model would probably have been announced by this point and a prototype would likely be on display at car shows. You don't develop a car in "super secrecy" and then expect people to suddenly show up and buy it when they stumble across it in dealerships. At some point, you have to market the car, and it's getting late for an '06 (about 9 months until they're available in dealerships). How about '07?

The FD has gotten more "press" (movies, appearing on wax bottles, etc.) after it was discontinued in the U.S. and like it or not, The Fast and the Furious has done more to generate "buyer awareness" than all of Mazda's marketing combined. The fact that people still don't know what the hell the car is and don't know that it's been out of production for 10+ years tells you all you need to know about Mazda's marketing campaign for the FD. Now, do you think they learned a lesson from that if you look at the marketing effort surrounding the RX-8?

There will not be an '06 RX-7.

I would sell my FD and buy a built up S13 240SX.

I would sell my FD and buy a built up S30 240Z.

However, I would not sell an FD for a 350Z.

The Miata is a good car, but like any lower power car takes work to build it up and bring out its potential -- I appreciate the Miata very much though, and I dont consider it a downgrade from the FD (as long as its properly built).

There is no way a 996 will be around $30k. You can barely find any around $39k and they will have RMS leak or are wrecked.

At $30k, My list is

G35 coupe (slightly used or new)
RX8 (new)
NSX
E46 M3 (hi mi)
Boxter (low mi)
S2000
Evo (new)

If you do get an older E46 M3, get one with warranty. First year M3 engine are problematic.
