Depends how much. If the smoke is blue then that's oil if it's black then that's fuel. I think some smoke in the high rev range is normal. If you're getting excess then you could have problems. Check to see how much oil is in your intake.

How fast are you burning up oil? If you are seeing blue/brown smoke while you are flooring it, you must be spitting out quite a bit. I've had people tell me that they see a little smoke out of my tailpipe at WOT but it's not something that I can't see while driving.

It could be the start of engine wear. I hope it's not though. Keep saving money can take it easy on the car so it'll last.

Stop using your rearview then

First, identify what type of smoke it is. Have someone rev the engine for you and take a look yourself.

Also, get a good whiff. I mean a reeeaallll good whiff. And when you come down from your chemical bliss, figure out if it is oil or coolant.

It is probably the turbo seals going. Under boost oil is getting past the seals in the turbos, and letting it go into the intake tract.

It will slowly get worse, and blow more and more oil. Start saving up for a rebuild, or a used set of turbos.....Or you could buy a brand new set from the dealer, or go single.

Later,
Patrick

Yeah everyone seems to have some great advice. I just wanted to add that when my car was running *really* rich it shot out black smoke and backfired constantly. It could also be your turbos going south.

I doubt the shock of backfiring is good for the exhaust end of the turbine.
