i recieved the same thing ken. . . i just dont like NOT knowing what it looks like. . . im very tempted to drive up there and see if i can get one. . . but thats a long way to drive if im not sure im gonna be satisfied. . . besides. . . tuning along with it costs about 800+ bones. . . yee-haw!!!

why would they have to tune the car for you? isnt that part of the purpose of this device?

With proper tuning in the first place, Detonation
shouldnt be an issue.. Right??

obviously it is an issue. All I hear is "if its properly tuned it will not blow up".

I had power fc tuned by a shop, running rich 10:5 to 11:1, 1200 cc secondaires, high flow fuel pump and of course all the reliablity mods and still managed to detonate on the dyno at 12 psi with only 52,000 miles on the clock.

All you have to do is read through this forum to realize there is no guarantee of how to "properly tune" an rx-7. they blow up for no reason. This is why the "Anti-detonation" device if real is important and other things such as Water Injection are gaining serious popularity.

 

Could be a bad batch of gas.

Then again, any "hiccups" in the RX7 parts while boosting = KABOOM

 

thats why I got water injection and run it all the time now. Dont need to worry about a bad tank of gas anymore.

This is great. Here's the email I sent to KDR:

I'm curious to know more about this "anti-detonation" device
you are hinting about. I understand that you have applied for a patent
for this "device." That being the case, I'm curious to know when that
was so I may gauge the timeframe to when details will actually be
available. I'm am researching patent laws to determine if details can
be given without any consequence to you and you being the sole receiver
of this patent. There are a lot of skeptics including myself who are
wary about this $500 "miracle" device that would end blown seals. Any
info from your standpoint would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps if
enough info is received you'll have yet another customer.

okay, railguns response from kdr and zkellers thread opening post ("i dont care what it looks like or where its at". . . something like that anyways) all add up to. . . NO PRODUCT. i dont trust kdr on this one. . . i guess skip has ruined his rep. . . cause this is total b.s. the product is nothing more than someone having more ***** to tune well. . . if you ask me. i also think there are a few forum members just trying to open up a can of worms or something. . . seems to me. . . its all crapola.

tune well? i dont think 87 octane with 12's and 13's afr is well tuned for a heavily modified rotary. why dont you try it, and tell us how it works out without the device.

 

There was actually some sarcasm in my previous post.....my point was to not infer anything. Your making a decision based on assumptions which could be very false.

Here is where i am at with this whole thing. When i get some extra time and money..probably next spring...i will approach KDR for an appointment. IF Dave tells that this mod is something that i can benefit from i will go ahead and ask him to install it. I respect him that much...never did me wrong!

I have been keeping my mouth shut, but I must say, well said.

 

OK guys. I had to pull my engine. Not because it blew up, but because I overported the intake into the outer oil control ring and have some pretty fair oil consumption issues, so I'd rather get it repaired now.

Motor is going to KDR Monday, this time, so I have no further info for anyone at this time.

But, before I took the motor out I could not help it to boost it to 20LBS. Ran her right up to 7,000 RPMs. Wow. Can you imagine what would have happened w/o the mod runnin 87 Octane???

 

Well, then KDR totally stole 475 bucks from me. Yeah right. Do you think that they would risk their reputation by doing that? Do I need to scan a copy of my invoice and post it? DOES 20LBS OF BOOST W/ 87 OCTANE RAISE ANY BROWS?

i call it a lie because i have to when the information simply is NOT there. there is yet to be a credible post to any of this. . . "i have it on my car" simply isnt worth a damn. i mean really. . . hey guys, come to tennessee and let me put my ebay air intake mod on your car so you can be killa fast yo!!!! thats what the damn thing sounds like to me!!!

the reason it sounds like a bunk product is that there IS NO PROOF THAT IT EVEN EXISTS!!!! no dyno plots, no datalogs, no pictures, no nothing. . . how in the world am i supposed to say, "come on fellow rotorheads. . . follow me on the yellow brick road so we can get that pure heart for our cars" when i have no proof that the product even exists? for all ANYBODY knows, this is purely an internet hoax. . . some of the forum members just wanna pull on some chains.

its not that i dont believe that such a product is possible. . . i think its obvious since i keep coming back to THESE threads. . . its just that i have nothing but a bunch of people CLAIMING that it is there and that it works. . . yet they NEVER provide the proof. . .


SO, make it known. . . people WILL NOT flock from far places to have this thing installed when there is nothing to prove that it exists. i live in tennessee. . . it is 900+ miles away from kd's shop. that is simply TOO FAR for me to travel only to turn around and come back home with a dissapointed face.

heres the solution. you guys that are "great" friends with the kdr crowd need to get dyno plots from them and post them. i KNOW skip did dyno runs before throwing this on the market, so that means he should be willing to provide images of dyno runs showing max hp, max torque, and all afr's. why is that so hard to understand? THATS ALL I WANT. . . AND IM SURE THATS ALL MOST EVERYBODY ELSE WANTS!!!!!
