Sure, you can misuse any product, but if it indeed allows better performance when used correctly, then it's worth buying.
The key is going to reliability. As you know you can run Water Injection VERY cheap and run 87 octain. The problem with that is the complexity and inherent unreliablity it has.

If this device does what they say, I can see having this device AND water injection sounds like a sweet deal.

Jacked the timing up. I am running approx. 25 degrees advance at 10lbs and 28 degrees when boost builds.

Trailing timing is flat. I mean flat as it gets. Zero, zilch, nothing.
Forgive my ignorance but:

What kind of perfomance gain can be seen from leaning out from a low 11afr to a low 12 afr?..as in rwhp increase..
and
What exactly does "trail timing is flat" mean?

Yea, and I run 12:1 under boost 13:5 to 14 under cruise and thats without the water injection on. I want to see 14's under boost with this miracle device and then i'll be a believer

BTW matty, kick any LS1's butt lately?

yes, that would be awesome to run lean under boost.

no more fireballs i guess

<sigh>

Lower octane ignites at a lower pressure (read: compression ratio) than higher, agreed? Take some air, compress it and what happens? It heats up. Increase the compression and you increase the temp. So TECHNICALLY the higher the octane rating, the higher the temp. it ignites at. THAT is why higher rated fuels are recommended for super/turbocharging as the pressures in the combustion chambers are higher than say, a 8:1 N/A motor.

Negative, ghostrider. 87 octane fuel indeed burns "faster" than 91 or 93 octane fuel. And that increased "flame front" speed results in higher overall EGTs, which explains why they recommended higher octane fuel with higher boost settings.

I thought higher octain burns cooler than lower octain, thats why you can run methanol without an IC on the stock seals with crazy boost.

Oh well learn something new every day.

higher octane is harder to ignite.

Flash point is taller.

with that u can adjust other variances accordingly

so being harder to ignite u can run any combination of increased boost, less fuel/more air, higher compression ratios.

That adds HP.

But without proper tuning it doesn't add HP......... if anything it subtracts HP.

well, I think under the same boost conditions it may not add HP, but if it allows more boost you will gain HP from that even if you dont re-tune. Right? I think its similar to water injection in the way it allows you to run 3-4 more lbs of boost, if you keep it at the same boost level you dont see any real power gains, but still helps prevent detonation. Right?

Flat timing on the trailing means that they are firing together.

Performance gains a present at leaner air-fuels.

If your running a Haltech just turn the decel fuel cut to come on at like 2500RPM and the fireballs vanish. I cannot state any claims since I am running the Haltech and did not have the fireballs before.

EGTs would rise to unsafe levels that lean. Plus, I did hit some lambdas in the 14's when leaning out some bars too much and the car cut out. It still needs plenty of fuel under boost.

14's cruising are easily acheivable. I am running 14's now at some throttle points. Stoichometric is low 14's I think. If your car has the stock ECU or PFC with the O2 connected, or Haltech for that mater, and set to read it you should be seeing 14s now at cruise and real light load.

I plan to hook an O2 up to the Haltech and run stoich for cruise.

That is one possibility.

It gives u that much more of a margin of error (for lack of a better term).......

Hey I was wondering if you noticed an increase in gas mileage. Also i sent you a PM.

an ignorant (doesnt know what it is or does) review of a product wont shut up anyone.

batman and the hypers etc.......how the hell did you become the next dont be a rikki? well...rikki ran elevens with his pfs schmoozing..this thing isnt even on your cars...til it is your words mean little. its like me talking about the instrument panel on the space shuttle. Ive never seen the thing and Ive never used it.... so I really dont know ***** about it. lolololol

To those who are all freaking out and doing the hyping...we saw the same thing happen with the bnrs...huge hype...you know what...nine out of ten sets leak. premature hype...before the product is PROVEN on the street/track can be very expensive if one is not careful.

lets see the datalogs...lets see the dyno sheets...lets see all the afr maps and timing maps of a successful machine with this mod....til i see this Im going with the water injection setup. to hell with being the guinie pigs.

Hey Matt I did not have a chance to answer your PM. Since I am still in the tuning stages I am not sure about the gas mileage. It is safe to say that if you are running leaner, gas mileage will improve.

It's on my car. What do I have to do to get through to some of you. If I knew what it is I would not tell you anyway. I can't for the reasons that I explained before that I will not go through again.

Jason, I will attach a datalog for you in a couple days. Again I am having trouble with lambdas all over the place. I go from 12's to 11's and sometimes dip into the high 10's. My datalog will have the corosponding air/fuel on it as well as timing and boost pressure. You will need the Haltech 634u software to view the air fuel and go into the main setup and choose to use the spare AD as UEGO air-fuel.

Can someone please explain the all the af ratio's to me? I think it seems that 10s is rich and 14s is lean? What is the stock AFR?

Thanks.

If Kack had been a repeat customer do u really think that some shop would risk ******* a good customer up and have that reputation fly so freely on the internet and more specifically this forum?

Advancing the timing allows for the mixture to burn more completely in the motor. Retarding the timing causes the mixture to burn more in the exhaust manifold.
Exploding gases in the exhaust manifold will cause the turbo to spool up quicker.

If you are advancing the timing, the motor may revv quicker and you will make more power... but the turbo will not spool up any quicker.
Best,
John

The car screams. It never ran this good. The pull is increadible. I also noticed that the turbo spools faster than before. This may also be contributed to the heat sheild bonnet that I have on the turbo. [/B][/QUOTE]

I'm going to drive down in the next few days and talk to KDR and check out the device.
I remember talking to great length about this device with Dave awhile ago, I'm also a very skeptical person.
