Really?
So why hasn't anybody marketed it yet? Look at the 7 pages of interest here. That's a shitload of money somebody isn't making. I don't buy that it's been around for a while. I also don't buy that it isn't some gimmick.
If anybody would have thought of this it would be Mazda, not some small tuner shop.

Just pretend for a moment that Mazda was aware of the capabilities of this device from working with KDR on other projects..
Just pretend that Mazda said something like "We would rather run conservative timing and fuel mixture on the car, than put this device on the car".
So just pretend that the above statements are true...how would you feel about Mazda?

back on topic... i dont knwo if i can take reading this thread anymore. so what you guys are telling me is that we should believe ONE persons experience as gospel? (spelling?) hell it could be true, and we would all be like the Jews who killed Jesus.... ONE mans words is the truth.

Please dont turn this into a religios thread... i would rather hear about anti-detonation on an rx7 forum.

I find this statement hard to believe. I seriously doubt that mazda would intentionally ruin their reputation just so they could sell engines.

but that was under waranty. others were wanting to believe that a preprogramed ecu could handle what it was advertised to handle.
LOL another was a stupid oversight ...
i thought when ford took over mazda, they just blatantly said that they would have nothing to do with the rotary and rotary-related items. Its not that mazda stopped development...ford j/ didnt give them a huge bump in R&D money for it.
I wouldn't be suprised if Ford saw a serious threat to their Mustang sales program when they Axed the FD....
Either way there were no dry eyes at ford for seeing something that they, and chevey couldnt make work, go away !

While its entertaining to put the Bad Guy hat on Ford and make them the subject of various conspiracy theories, I don't think it holds up to logic. Ford is a business, and they want to make money. Ford as a whole makes more money when its various subsidiaries make money, that would include Mazda. If they thought the FD was going to be profitable they would have been all for it. They didn't, and let's face it...it wasn't. If they were really all that worried about a Mazda car taking away Mustang sales they would never have let the RX-8 come along. Its much closer to a direct competitor...and look at what Car and Driver thought when they compared the RX-8, G35 and Mustang Cobra! (Hint: If you didn't see the article, they preferred the 8).

Actually Ford didn't have a controlling interest in Mazda when the FD got axed here in the U.S., so they couldn't have if they wanted to. I think selling only 500 copies in '95 was plenty to convince Mazda on its own. What a shame!

Yep you guessed right, Mazda.

Ok got a question. For those of you that are working on motor #3, 4,5 ....., Did they blow due to detonation or other reasons, ie: broken side seals, corner seals, coolant o-ring failures, oiling problems? It would be intersting to hear. Skip's device solves detonation problems. Detonation damage, and correct me if I am wrong, as I am sure someone will, is concentrated to the middle of the apex seal where the combustion takes place on the seal itself instead of in the "combustion dish" of the rotor?
