12-13 inches is the norm for a streetported engine with stock apex seals right?

Depends on RPM. I get 16-18 inHg @ 900-1000 RPM (idle) on my SP stock 2mm seal motor

That's hardly low for a streetported motor.... I've seen most large street ported motors only pulling 9-11 inches of vacuum. (900-1,000 RPM)

umm.. 9-11 inHg is very low vacuum, even for a large streetport motor. my buddy's BDC half-bridge motor pulled like 12in at idle (1100-1200rpm)

I've spoke with some hardcore racers and that's where I got that bit of information. I've also seen it in person on a few of my buddies cars.

I can understand how you would think 9-11 is low. It is low........ for your average engine. It's not low for a high flowing race engine.

My streetport holds 11 at idle. I have no signs of any weakness of my motor.

My ported motor with NEW rotor housings and 3mm seals pulls 13-14 in vacuum. If a streetported motor is only pulling 9-11 in, maybe it's because it was rebuilt using shitty housings....

That's possible. My rebuild has 23k miles on it too. I'm sure it held higher vacuum when it was newer.

Your motor isn't very streetported. They probably just polished the runners and reshaped the ports a bit. Not necessarily a bad thing, either.

I really ported the hell out of mine, and run lots of overlap. Again, not necessarily a good thing, lol. I am pulling -320 to -330 at 950 rpm, on my gauge it oscillates from 10 to 12 inches.

The real litmus test is compression. fd kid 7 proclaimed he was leaving the forum, so who knows if he'll read this, but I have a compression tester and the next time Ihor works on the car he can check the motor out.

True that. My motor is "really quiet" according to the guy who built it I've heard your car (on the Streefire video), and yeah, the excessive overlap is very noticable

Rich.. My only problem is this...... there's no way 2 prove.. Who did what or wat condition the car was bought in... I could be your car and make a post 3months from now saying how its a piece of crap etc etc. Lol wouldn't b true but I could do that.. I could do bandaid mods 2 try n fix problems, and then blame it on you...that was my whole problem with this thread.. But anyways.. The vaccum on my way*large streetport* always read between 12-13 @ 900rpm.. .. Motor was always in good condition never had problems with starts,cranking.... and the power was always there when I "sold" it.. ... it wouldn't surprise me honestly if the motor was blown now tho honestly..it would be a crime if it was though,it was a performer

Somebody ran over something at some point. The front lip was torn off, undertray was damaged, and oil pan slightly dented.

Definately a possibility. I didn't have the exhaust off the car as the customer didn't request for me to address the problem.

So you made a professional judgement that the engine was at fault for the oil smoke w/o root causing the problem?
